These fluorescent glowing paintings are the result of a collaboration between Cree artist Sam Bighetty and artist Ian Kroll from Calgary, Alberta. Because of the acrylic pour, paintings glow differently under regular light, a mixture of regular and UV light, and mostly UV light. #indigenousart #art #artwork #nativeamerican #nativecanadian #culture #shopindigenous

This is awesome! Dan Levy enrolls in Free Online Indigenous Course by University of Alberta. "If 2020 has taught us anything, it's that we actively need to relearn history history that wasn't taught to us in school". #Indigenous #History

Check our latest collection of artwork inspired by #Inuit people. It's called "Spirits of the North" and it was created by amazing 83-year old #Indigenous #painter from New Brunswick, Guéganne Doucet. https://indigenearts.com/search?q=Gueganne From the artist - "Knowing and living with the Inuit in Nunavut, I was struck by their joyful acceptance of limitation of the lack of materials and the very high price of their foods. I was fortunate to get a chance to visit their home...s and land. I wish I had the words to describe the essence of these peoples and their works of Art. One of the big subjects in Inuit Art is their traditional way of life. In their art, many Inuit are making a visual history to show how their ancestors adapted to living in one of the harshest climates on earth. Even though I could never live there because of the extreme cold and storms, I learned to respect and left with great sadness and an admiration for the beautiful native Alaskan. My heart was changed forever by the Inuit’s spirit, and this is why I paint these renderings of the beautiful spirits of the North."
