We are extremely pleased for the Tourism Industry Association of Canada to have added an amazing person, Beth Potter to their team. Through her work at the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO) the #ontario #indigenoustourism voice was amplified and supported like never before. Although we will miss her at the Ontario level, we know she will be an amazing asset for the national tourism industry.... GChi Miigwetch Beth!

We are excited to launch a new initiative in collaboration with the Wiikwemkoong Anglers called Hunt/Fish like the P.R.O.S. -PRACTICE sustainable harvesting,... RESPECT fish/wildlife habitat, ONLY harvest what you need & SAFETY. This will be an indigenous lead hunting and sportfishing initiative that will promote conservation, teach proper hunting/fishing ethics and most importantly be guided by our Anishinabe values. Guided by the principles of PROS, we plan to engage Indigenous youth through seminars, events and land based programs that will teach our inherent responsibility of stewardship, fundamentals of hunting & recreational sportfishing and most importantly to have fun and get outdoors. As part of this initiative we have partnered with Fuel the Fire TV to film Youth "PROS" that will be featured on an episode of the show. Wow! Over the next couple of weeks we will be recruiting three Youth PROS to our team through an online contest. Stay tuned as details become available. To kick off this initiative we would like to introduce our first Youth PROS- Noah Manitowabi Pelletier and Ethan Flamand who will be taking part in our Wiikwemkoong Youth Ice Fishing Program. Indigenous Tourism Ontario is excited to see our industry-leading food tourism work featured by Forbes. Indigenous People in Canada take pride in the connection they share with the land and its resources. Post-pandemic the growth of Indigenous food tourism in Canada will continue and we will be at the forefront of creating a more responsible and resilient tourism industry. Together we can learn from Indigenous Peoples and we can all do our part in being better stewards of the land.
