Two artists - two different mediums - two different approaches to the same concept, how beautiful! One is a digital mashup of components and one is an actual artists drawing - our Carver has is work cut out for him and we have left more than enough room for his creativity! I pray we get our grant! Can you imagine what this is going to look like in our gardens???? I am weak with gratitude to Gary A Dyck and my girlfriend Suzette for their efforts - Gary did the pencil drawing!

The Canadian Motorcycle Tourism Association in partnership with the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre and Windspeaker, with the blessing of the Tomkins Family, are calling on all Alberta Woodcarvers to submit a concept for a unique permanent display to pay honour to Charles "Checker" Tomkins a Cree Code Talker from Grouard Alberta who was also a dispatch rider. UPDATE - Our event has been postponed due the virus and we we have learned about it. The new date is May 30th and the new poster is attached below. Veterans Memorial Gardens + Interpretive Centre is hosting a small fundraiser on March 21, 2020 - come out for a fabulous evening of food and entertainment and learn about what they are doing and how this monument and all that will go with it fits into the bigger picture. Help us to honour our Indigenous veterans, silver cross families and killed in action soldiers from our region.
