I think I missed #nationalsiblingday but these two are too sweet not to share. What’s one thing you love about your sibling? I have one brother, and I admire his work ethic, and his love for his family. I’m very excited to see my brother over the next few weeks while he is in town for work.

I met Alise at a Champagne Party that I hosted last year, and her and her husband became clients just days before their wedding anniversary. The remarkable thing about Brett and Alise is that although they are both quite young, Brett was diagnosed with a brain tumour and had surgery to remove it in 2015, and then again in 2016. This was followed up by radiation therapy until October of 2017. One year and 2 days after they were told his second rumour was cancerous, Alise was ...diagnosed with Leukaemia, this was January 2018. If I'm being honest, the last few years were pretty miserable, but Brett and I made it through with a new respect and admiration for each other. When we got married on New Year's eve, we approached our wedding with the idea that we were starting out everything fresh: new year, new life together. And as we crept towards our 8th anniversary this past December, that idea of fresh starts felt more pertinent than ever. We wanted to celebrate our anniversary this year by doing a photo shoot that captured making it through and moving forward, but also photos that show us, just as we are. So here we are in all of our everyday wonder of each other. We read books, we play board games, we drink coffee, and we both overcame tremendous challenge to just be in these moments together. I was completely honoured to be able to sit with them, hear their stories, and just watch them enjoy and appreciate their life together. This first image shows Alise’s scar on her chest from her port, and Brett’s scar around his ear from his surgeries. The second image are tattoos they got in each others hand writing. I love you more each day.

Recently, I have been collecting women and mother's to photograph for a Mother's Day project.
