Tuesday Tip with Interior Designer Stephanie Conroy of Indigo Valley Interiors Tuesday Tip! Decorating in the Farm House Style. ... Farmhouse style is defined by its coziness and warmth and tends to look collected over time. It is relaxed and laid back, but needs a nice balance of old and new. Many pieces are repurposed, lots of antiques and wood elements. What you would find on your travels in the country at old antique stores typically goes for this style such as galvanized buckets, old signs and hardy items that stand the test of time. Furniture is typically all different, not to matchy, this style shouldn’t look calculated. Mix an old piece with a new sofa. Colour pallets tend to be warmer such as creams, greys and soft browns. Not a lot of colour in the Farmhouse style. For pops of colour use soft blues, lavender and yellow. Add real vintage pieces from your travels that keep conversations going and add to the rustic charm. Wash basins, old sewing machines, and Gramma’s china. Think wood and more wood! Barn board, wood beams, rocking chairs and rustic tables. Anything refinished is perfect. Decorate with lots of textures, thick plaids, cozy knit blankets, wicker baskets and rattan chairs. Farmhouse style has become far more popular since the HGTV series Fixer Upper. Farmhouse doesn’t go overboard with things like roosters and pigs. Keep your farmhouse style clean, warm and inviting. You can mix styles too, Modern Farmhouse, Industrial Farmhouse and French Country Farmhouse giving you lots of options to be creative. Have fun. Stephanie Conroy Indigo Valley Interiors 250-513-0033
Which colour palette suits you most? I’m starting to add more and more colour and life to my spaces. If you could choose one colour palette to redo any room in your home which would it be? I love number 2. Number 1 is my second, love that dusty rose.
Tuesday Tip with Interior Design Consultant Stephanie Conroy of Indigo Valley Interiors #beautifulinteriors #indigovalleyinteriors #theahansonrealestat...e #DoingMoreFromFORSALEtoSOLD #allprorealty #remaxrealtor #remaxagent #ProvenResults #contemporarydesign Tuesday Tip Working with Contemporary Design Style Contemporary style is defined as a range of styles developed in the latter half of the 20th century. Pieces feature softened and rounded lines as opposed to the stark lines seen in modern design. Interiors contain neutral elements and bold colours and focus on the basics of line, shape and form. When decorating with contemporary style use the following! Colour: black, white and neutral tones with uses of bold colours. Black is the grounding colour for a contemporary room. If the walls are painted neutral decorate with bold colours, if the walls are bold decorate with neutral colours. Line and space: contemporary lines are straight, horizontal, vertical and curved. Modern only has straight lines where as contemporary encompasses curved lines. An example would be curved arms on a couch or chair. Furniture: smooth clean geometrical shapes, neutral tones with texture like jute or linen materials. Contemporary furniture uses exposed legs and limited details and absolutely no ruffles. Contemporary and modern styles often get confused. Modern think straight lines and no colour. Contemporary think curved lines and pops of bold colour. If you have any questions reach out. Have fun! Which kitchen style do you love best?
How can you honestly decide? I’m thinking lake house for this gal, then I get the forest and the water, what’s yours?
