This is a great MHC Community connections video clip where Brent Secondiak discusses mental health and his personal experience dealing with traumatic incidents early in his career. I know a lot of individuals in Police, Military, and Security and the unfortunate thing is these 'hero's' often don't receive the same accolades as other blue collar hero's the Firefighters, EMT's and Medical Workers, and often they are dealing day in day out with some of the worst elements of huma...n society... over time this can wear on a person. In our businesses we provide help to individuals that have experienced trauma and a range of mental & physical health issues - Redcliff Kinesiology & Sedona North - providing wholistic wellness supports through Access BARS sessions, Neuro-linguistic programming, and Specialized Practical Kinesiology. We also teach and instruct people how to deal with 'evil' and 'empower' themselves through Infinite Self Defense Systems training (group, private, and semi-private). Often when instructing our Women's Self Defense courses we find a large number of participants have issues on their K-27 meridian line - often called the 'brain button' connecting brain to body responsiveness. Stress, Fatigue, Anxiety, Diminished Immune Response often show up with individuals that have this issue. Often women 'break-down' into tears when we are teaching techniques to get away from being held or choked, as past traumatic memories emerge in their mind. Building and strengthening mindset is key, and a K-27 issue can create mental health issues, causing inverted thought processes and confusion (right is wrong & wrong is right, good is bad & bad is good). We can help individuals overcome this when the come forth seeking help, willing to do the work. The reality is, we all have the ability to turn to 'evil' - evil acts & evil thoughts... it's what happens when we 'live backwards'. Living right and forward is an option, and a choice we need to choose through free will. The drug or alcohol addict is seeking solace or spirit... they are just taking the wrong path, making the wrong choice. Wellness is not found in a drug, in a pill, nor is spiritual expansion... fulfillment of spirit requires work, requires the journey of living life well. Another mind may be required, help is required for anyone resonating below 200, and free will requires the person to make the choice to ask for help, to have another assist them in a move towards wellness. Pride may sometimes get in the way, but true courage allows for the step out of darkness, the step out of hell, and allows for the rise towards personal betterment.

Reflections on martial arts, training, and life. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. Practice gratitude, and have a grateful heart. The day is guaranteed ...to no man, so make the day and cherish it. Fear is an opportunity to be courageous. Be the light you want to see in the world. Practice the Fundamentals, practice the principles. Be prepared to act, and take action. Sometimes the best Defense is a better Offense. Be aware of what, and who, you are dealing with. Have Fun! @ Medicine Hat, Alberta See more

Lee Mein - whether or not you agree, he had the balls to make a statement. He attracted media attention, and I am sure he said what many gym owners, club owners, and their members have been thinking. Plus look at all the publicity, positive or negative, he has made himself known. If you are in Lethbridge, Alberta I encourage you to pop over to his BBQ on Monday. Cheers to those that support physical fitness, the martial arts, the combative arts, and general health and wellness. And remember, everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it takes courage to stand against the herd. Much respect Lee! #martialarts #health #wellness #physicalfitness #sports
My first teacher taught me this form, and I thought nothing of it. My second teacher reiterated the value of all form, and I thought nothing of it. Ahhhh the wi...sdom of youth. Years later I realized, It would have served me better to think less and listen more.. to question less and to just do more. Today I send a shout out and a thank you to all of my teachers, who put up with my prideful arrogance, and my stubborn ways long enough to impact my life, impart their knowledge, and plant the seeds that would keep me growing as a martial artist and as a human being for the rest of my life. Thank you. All of the many branches of a given system come from the same root... If you want your branches to flourish youve got to water the root. When the root dies the branches will die too. It does not matter how strong your expression of the art is, if you neglect the roots the branches with wither and die. A little Sil Lim Tao..
