Being a non-essential business, especially in the arts field, is frustrating when there is a pandemic. Not only can we not operate normally, soon we will not be able to operate at all. We are now going to be going into a full lockdown as of Dec 26th, which means no sessions for a while. What I will be doing instead, is putting together some fun little things for purchase and trying to connect digitally with other vendors to offer some exclusive items. Ok folks, it's that time of year! Who has interest in a Christmas tree mini? We'd be hosting them in Barry's Bay this year if at all. I need a minimum of 8 people to book sessions ... Don't forget that minis go FAST

Why is wedding photography worth the ? Well, let's put it this way. Literally the only person who will be with you every second of your day is your photographer.... They make you laugh to break up your nerves and they keep you calm when you're in the midst of chaos. Your photographer spends a huge amount of time and emotional energy putting together a timeline, shot list, location and posing plan. It takes them years to learn how to do these things, and only seconds to execute them. It becomes second nature to move a hand, or a hair - second nature to fix all the tiny little things that you don't have time to worry about. All the things that make an image perfect and make it worth hanging on your wall. We spend so much time planning your day and we desperately want it to be perfect because you deserve to feel special and loved. Photography is important because its a tangible memory. It's real, and authentic and you can hold photos in your hands. You would never believe how many tiny little things you forget without them. Things that are worth remembering, I promise.

A little something to consider for your big day, even offering just one or two options (NA Beer, and maybe a mocktail!) would be a great and inclusive idea. Lots of folks who don't drink still want to be included and deserve to not be made to feel awkward at the bar I love the idea of a mocktail, as many of my brides know it's incredibly rare to see me even sip wine at a wedding I'm working, but trust me when I say I wouldn't turn down something fruity and fun, sans alcohol

As of Monday, I will be unable to work with anyone outside my immediate area, at least until we are given the green light from the Provincial Government. I have refused studio work almost entirely since March in an effort to reduce contact between myself and clients in closed spaces. I have limited the sizes of shoots outdoors and stopped physically posing clients (I only provide verbal direction for posing). ... Now, I will ensure no one is travelling to my smaller more rural area from cities. This is not my ideal business model, it has effected my businesses health (like all small businesses) and takes food from the table of my family. It's frustrating. It's disheartening. It's IMPORTANT. I do these things in order to protect the people I love the most - my family and my clients So, I ask for your patience and your respect as I continue to make hard choices, and thank you for continuing to support me. You have no idea what it means to me.

Today's covid-friendly wedding was beautiful while I ran around in my mask, and guests enjoyed extra leg room with one pew per family - we got to witness one of the most gorgeous days. We made the best of our situation by enjoying a big empty park, some yummy cupcakes (individually packed in super cute containers!) and beautiful fall weather! Well, this was a tough one not to post about early... it's SO hard to keep a secret this good for so long! To those of you seeing this for the first time, you're seeing it right - Stacey and Michael tied the knot! Still Water on the Lake is the MOST beautiful place to get married - elopements are so much fun to shoot and this gorgeous garden and stunning private cabin made it so easy to get beautiful shots. ... Doesn't hurt when your clients are stunners too, but they already know that! So nice to see two people so young and in love. Congratulations newlyweds! Can't wait to show you the rest!

Poll & Mini Announcement I've got my fall Mini date selected (which I will release shortly!) but I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in a back to school session this year? With covid taking over our lives, it would be nice to have something semi-familiar around rather than just masks and Lysol wipes! ... A powerful thought to end your week Remember that you are human and a camera picks up a lot but it doesn't pick up that you are wild and strong and beautiful so remind yourself of that and love yourself as often as possible.

Contest results... I have very mixed emotions about this post. While I am so proud of the growth and the beautiful images I was able to produce for my incredible clients (yay!) I am not in support of this contest anymore. After a number of comments in their private group for photographers I feel uncomfortable being affiliated in anyway, because I stand with those who are marginalized, stripped of their rights and treated unfairly based on sexuality, skin tone, nationality, ...gender, and a number of other causes. I am posting these as a number of my clients have asked about the progress and I'd like to give closure to them, and celebrate that this is likely the last time I will enter (though there are always other contests so who knows what this year will bring One additional image will be posted in the private group so don't forget to look there too!

Every couple I shoot has a special and unique feel to their photos, mostly because everyone is so different that it's hard to fit one style to every personality. I feel like this sweet but dramatic feel is perfect for Kassidy and Dylan as they get ready to welcome their beautiful baby girl into the world. I'm sure she's going to be a mix of sassy and sweet just like her parents. I can't wait to meet her, but hopefully she stays with her mum a few more weeks before she makes her appearance!

Just wondering how everyone is and what the situation is like where you are. When it seems like the whole world is on fire, we have to lean (not physically because, Corona) on each other for support. I'm here for you! ... If you're doing ok, and don't need to chat, post a shot of your fur babies

Well folks, it's time for 2 updates. One on my injuries, and one on the dreaded corona virus. The easier of the two is the car accident... A few weeks ago I had an unavoidable accident where someone smashed into me on my side of the road when road conditions were very poor. I was fine, just some whiplash (fun to compound on top of the last time this happened!) and my wrist/back/knee/everything is sore. ... This is has not massively impacted everything, but I have been slow to respond while I'm healing, dealing with insurance, medical appointments (thank goodness for chiropractors!!!) and tried to get back to normal. In the midst of all that... Corona has become an increasing worry for us all. Great timing, am I right? In terms of corona there have been some changes made so that I can ensure everyone is protected - Wedding, engagement, and all other sessions in the near future are suspended until further notice. - Weddings in June/July/August and beyond have nothing to worry about right now. - There will be no in person meetings until we get the all-clear from the gov't, but Skype and phone meetings are still completely ok! - If you need to postpone payments which are due within 30 days you are absolutely able to do so. Just shoot me a message and we'll work it out. - If you choose to postpone an event please let me know, and we can apply your deposit to a later date. If you need ANYTHING and I can help, please let me know. I will be here for you in whatever way I can but no, I don't have spare toliet paper Stay safe everybody!

Today marks 1,000 likes on Facebook! In celebration, I'm posting a super not perfect photo of my brothers who I don't get to talk about much. One, who officiated my wedding, taught me how to find the magic flute in super Mario, and literally never stops talking. Two, who danced with me on my wedding day, gave me five bucks for lunch before school, and made me crazy every day as a teenager. ... Thank you both for always supporting me and guiding me. You're the best and I love you.

Those of you who have followed me for a long time will know that I had the wonderful opportunity of taking photos of Brady, when he was a newborn (and then a number of other times later on). Now I've been so blessed that I got to take photos of his new little sister, little Kinsley. She was probably the most perfectly quiet baby I've ever met, and absolutely adorable. Plus, new baby smell is the best (Moms, you get it!).
