InMotion Yoga 04.06.2021

You don’t need to have a bunch of fancy tools to practice yoga. Really, all you need is to just show up with yourself, for yourself, day after day. That said, maybe you’ve attended some virtual classes where the instructor has suggested you place one hand on a block or have your strap handy and you feel a little like you’re missing out. If you don’t have these tools at home, not to worry! While most classes can be done without any props at all, having them available can... also be super helpful! (Remember the days when you’d just show up at your local studio and they’d have everything you need in surplus & ready for borrow sigh!) If you’re practicing at home, there are some simple prop swaps you can make with basic household items. Over the next few days, I’ll show you how! Part 1 - Blocks! Only second to the well-known yoga mat, yoga blocks are arguably the most commonly used prop in many yoga studios. They serve many purposes: to bring the ground closer, to maintain distance between two body parts, to squeeze & help you feel engagement in specific muscles A yoga block can easily be replaced with: -A book! This is great because you can choose whatever thickness works best for you. (French immersion diploma not required!) -A block of wood! Maybe you have something leftover from a home improvement project that you could use. Just watch out for splinters! -A box or container. Try finding something made of thick cardboard or durable plastic. Anything that can sustain the pressure you plan to place on it will work just fine - get creative! Questions about using props, swapping props, or what happened in the 5th Harry Potter book? Message me! I’d be happy to help! Tag @inmotionyoga and let us know how you’ve got creative with props during these times!

Pose of the Week! Anjaneyasana or Low Lunge Pose is a simple stretch with lots of fun variations to play around with! I love this pose after I’ve been running to stretch tight thighs & hip flexors. ... Anjaneyasana also boosts energy and may help with low back pain for some people! Stay tuned for the demo later this week! Note: this pose may not be suitable for those with knee injuries. Always exercise caution and follow your doctors advice when trying anything new! #yoga #yogaeveryday #dailyyogapractice #mindful #meditation #pranayama #yogabenefits #yogawithmeggyn #inmotionyoga #imyoga #yogaflow #collingwood #wasagabeach #ontarioyoga #yogaforcyclists #yogaforrunners #yogaforathletes #virtualyoga #yogaonline #hipstretch #tighthips #anjaneyasana #lowlunge See more
