BEFORE PIC! Bedroom reno is in the works!! I LOVE doing projects with my hubby (@acroslacker). He is a ticketed carpenter that no longer works in carpentry. Thank Gawd for this handyman. Mostly our joint projects look like Kev looking at the project, thinking about every angle that he has to cut, calculating every 1/16 of an inch in his head-all while listening to me tell him that if he'd just listen to me I could tell him how it should be done! Very helpful if I do say so myself. Honestly, he's so patient. Only once has he ever told me to "just be quiet" so that he can think. Fair. I'll keep you posted. Anyone else in reno mode? I'd love to see pictures! #beforerenovation #bedroomreno #renocouple

Type 9- The Peacemaker Of the Belly Triad. In every Triad, there is one Type that moves toward, one that avoids and one that falls asleep. The Peacemaker is the one that falls asleep to their anger. Type 9s will also fall asleep to their own needs, wants, and desires. They go numb in order to make sure that everyone else remains calm and content. Maintaining peace in her environment, home, workplace, relationship, friend group, everywhere, is more important than their ow...n needs. When a Nine gets angry, they may not recognize it and when it finally does come out it comes out in bursts. A Nine's core wound relates to their having one parent that took up SO much space that they withdrew. They had to be so careful around this parent because the parent was volatile and unpredictable. The safest thing, it seemed, to the little 9 was to make themselves invisible. They often don't realize what they need because they believe that their needs are a hassle and an inconvenience, so have spent their lives abandoning them. In balance, a 9 can feel into everything around them. LOVE is huge to this type. They feel things at a body level and often have an air of ease, acceptance and agreeability. They are inclusive of everyone. In health, a 9 will move toward a Type 3 (The Performer/Achiever). They become very big, playful, vibrant and gregarious. They have a high and contagious vibration here. When under stress, a Type 9 will move toward the shadow side of a Type 6 (The Loyalist). They become worrisome, fearful and full of self-doubt. They can be vulnerable to oppression and codependency. They will feel invisible, powerless, resentful, and stubbornly hold on to what is old and familiar, even when it is not serving them. Conflict is of the utmost challenge for a Nine. They will do everything, including abandoning themselves, to keep the peace.

Welcome to Enneagram Friday! Type 8- The Challenger. Type 8s are of the Body/Belly Triad. The Belly Triad values autonomy above all else and the emotion they struggle with is ANGER. Eights believe anger is their birthright and they often over-express it. They have a strong sense of social justice. Fairness, truthfulness and integrity are admirable qualities to an Eight. They are strong, self-confident, trustworthy and straight-talking.... Eights "core wound" relates to their vulnerability and at a young age, they were given or received, the message that their vulnerability was a huge problem and a weakness. They made a decision at that time to be big, strong, and powerful as to never be bullied or told what to do, and certainly not to be hurt again. Vulnerability is the hardest thing for this Type. It can feel life-threatening to them to expose their soft underbelly for fear of being annihilated and it is very difficult for them to ask for help. In balance, Eights have a high BS detector and have no problem calling it out when they see it. Eights, in health, start to look like the best traits of Type 2 (The Helper/Caretaker/Giver). They become softer, very caring and compassionate. They become empathetic, courageous, merciful, generous and even magnanimous! Under stress, an 8 will move toward the shadow side of a Type 5 (The Investigator). They become secretive and fearful. Eights can become vengeful, heart-hearted, immoral, and dictatorial when they feel they have been wronged egregiously or one too many times. Forgiveness is hard to access because it feels too vulnerable. An Eight can cut someone out of their life for years. An Eight's growth happens when they can lean into their vulnerability; when they can gently set down the idea that they need to be in control; when they realize that the world is not a battlefield and they do not have to fiercely protect themselves and their loved ones. The Serenity Prayer is good work for an Eight! If you have any questions, post them here. If you want to talk more about your Type and how to use this map as a tool to know yourself better, book a call with me!

A great term from this book: empathy-impaired persons. I think this is brilliant. I definitely know a few people that fit that description. And what a great way to view it...HSPs are empathy-enriched (my term) and other groups of people are empathy-impaired. It's not that they experience zero empathy or cannot access it at all, they are just not as attuned to that emotion as an HSP might be. This was a nice distinction for me and allowed me to view certain people in my life in a more gentle light.

Attention all of you who have been told that you are "just too sensitive" by various, maybe many, people in your life. I have been told this by many people, and often! It turns out I may be an HSP (Highly Sensitive Person). Maybe you are too? And it's not a load of shit. There is actual, real, scientific evidence of this. The same kinds of brain studies they do for psychopaths and sociopaths can be used to see if you are especially empathetic, rather than not empatheti...c at all. Part of what I've learned while studying the Enneagram is that I am a bit of a magnet for toxic people. Ugh. So I am reading this book right now and the conversation outlined in it is ALL too familiar! Yikes. The translation has been very helpful for me, even this week. I am ready to maintain some FIERCE boundaries with toxic people! Does this resonate with you?!? I'd love to hear. See more
