To our clients, colleagues and friends: Next month I am celebrating 10 years of practice and I AM KINDLY ASKING FOR YOUR HELP ON AN URGENT MATTER! This is a matter of concern for all of us. The association that I am a member of has received information that dietitians are actively trying to limit the use of the word nutritionist to just members of the dietitian community in Ontario. This is similar to what has already happened in Alberta and Nova Scotia (those provinces ha...ve already passed legislation to limit nutritionist practices). We understand that this is part of a bigger plan to include all of Canada and it goes beyond just restricting the use of the word nutritionist. It appears that their goal is to blur the lines in the hope of making our profession seem redundant, and thus creating a monopoly for themselves in the nutrition industry. The Association I am a member of called CAHN-Pro (The Canadian Association of Holistic Nutritionist Professionals) has kindly developed a petition to address this issue. You can read more information to clarify the difference between a practicing dietician and a practicing holistic nutritionist on this petition page to understand that there is a wide difference in the nature of practice between the two professions. Please click on the link below and SIGN and SHARE this petition to get it circulating please note you MUST live in Ontario for your vote to count. Please send it to friends and family and ask that they sign it as well. The names will remain confidential. We need to show strength and also to show there is support for the holistic nutrition industry amongst the public (voters).
