The life of an entrepreneur is filled with dramatic highs and lows. Due to systemic racism, those lows hit harder and more frequently for African-Canadian entrepreneurs. Unfortunately, many African-Canadian community members do not seek out mental health care due to cultural stigma resulting in them trying to cope with anxiety alone. Supported with funding from the Canadian Red Cross, BEMHI will enable Black entrepreneurs, who are experiencing mental health challenges, due to... isolation and loss of income as a result of COVID-19, to engage with culturally appropriate psychotherapists and peers. The BEMHI is currently accepting applications from Ontario-based entrepreneurs who identify as Black/African-Canadian/Caribbean. Once the application is processed, entrepreneurs will be connected to a psychotherapist for five free sessions. In addition to one-on-one sessions, Innovate Inclusion will be hosting five online seminars where psychotherapists will discuss topics ranging from burnout to coping with systemic racism. An information session is taking place on Tuesday September 8, 2020 from 7 8pm. Email hello@innovateinc to attend.
