Innisfail High School 07.01.2021

Just a reminder that we will be back in class with students starting on Monday. COVID protocols remain in place, so please remember your mask. As well, we are approaching the end of first semester, so the exam schedule has been shared via email and it's posted on the website. ELA 30-1/-2 Diploma Exam (or in class final, which is an option this year) Part A (Written) will happen on Monday, Jan. 11 with the corresponding Social Studies 30 exam on Tuesday, Jan. 12.... Please check the exam schedule. The last day of classes for semester 1 is Jan. 22, and the first day of exam week is Jan. 25. After this date, students only need to come to school to write scheduled exams. At the completion of their exam, they will go home or to a study room.

Huge thank you to the maintenance crew who were able to hang the Art 20/30 project of Anne Frank in the SGA. It looks wonderful, and really complements the Albert Einstein painting currently in there. What a tremendous piece! Way to go, Cyclones!

Last week, IHS students and staff bid farewell to our Japanese exchange students, Sayaka and Yoichi. While it was a difficult year due to Covid, both students had a great time and made lots of friends. We wish them all the best on their return home.

While the students are home on line, we still have some finalized projects and pictures to share. Kaylyn B. took the time to make an Edison lamp, including the "welding" and wiring. Kaylyn was super excited, because "they let me use a torch!" Great work, Kaylyn! Wood lathe magic allowed Brett to build a light saber handle. Physics not included! Great work, Brett. May the force be with you.

Just a reminder to parents and students that we have been having some minor glitches with our google meet sessions. If you or your student has logged in and no one is there, please call the office at 403-227-3244 so we can help out. Sometimes, it's a problem with the link and the teacher and class are in and teaching and learning. We would love to help troubleshoot for you. Also, if students are having difficulty accessing the google classrooms, we have the codes posted on the school website. Check it out.

Welcome to the first day of Phase 3, teaching and learning on line. The teachers are logging in to their Google Meets, to provide first class instruction. (We are having a few technical issues, but we are working on resolving that for a few staff. See you soon if they are not on already.) Most classes are running at or around their normal time, based on the school schedule. Students should check their Google Classroom to see about the start time for their class (some teac...hers moved the time slightly), or if there are other plans for classes (some option classes are doing module work online, so the Google Meet will be used for extra help only). While this may create issues for some students (eg. a first block core and a last block core), we have to follow the time table as we have 340 students to work with. Thanks for being patient, and for working with us to make sure that we can do our best work for you and your students.
