Innisfil Historical Society 20.02.2021

Thank you to everyone who has been visiting and liking the Innisfil Historical Society Facebook page in recent months. We’re glad to have you here! Due to Covid-19, we haven’t been able to hold our monthly meetings, but we still want to help everyone with an interest in Innisfil history and culture. Be sure to explore our website at www.ourstoriesinnisfil.ca. You’ll find hundreds of scanned photos picturing life in Innisfil over the past 100+ years. You can search by famil...y name, community and other terms. There’s lots of other historical info too. Hours of fun! Check out past issues of our monthly newsletters and learn you can join our Society. Be sure to check out our library of books for sale, including the brand-new 2020 Historical Review Town of Innisfil. More info is available on the website. During these Covid-restricted times, we’ve been helping out online visitors with questions about family history, house histories and more via Facebook Messenger. Don’t forget to check with the helpful local history experts at the Innisfil Public Library, too. Find contact details on our website. Today is the 75th anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe, Second World War) Here was what things looked like in Cookstown that year as the village held its own VE parade. (Photo from ourstoriesinnisfil.ca)

Our newest project is the 2020 Historical Review. It's the latest in our decades-long series of snapshots of Innisfil at significant points in its history. You can pre-order your copy today for just $20. While you're at it, take a look at expanding your Innisfil bookshelf with some of our other books, now available at special prices. See details in this story about the project from reporter Miriam King of Bradford Today. And many thanks to our hardworking book committee and team of researchers, proofreaders and indexers who have brought this book to life. Also our many community sponsors.
