Over the last few episodes we’ve been talking a lot about the smart city. And about how to integrate technology into the future city in a way that makes life better for regular people. An emphasis on ubiquitous internet connectivity could allow for easier access to public goods and services. But all of those technologies depend on one thing: Power. To get some clarity, we reached out to Ryan Franks. Ryan is an engineer that has worked with businesses and municipalities to design and implement green energy projects. #TechTuesday We saw streaming services being utilized in 2020 like we’ve never seen before. With new ones popping up regularly and established ones extending their services, there has been no shortage of content to watch. #FortuneFriday About 45 minutes down the road from Disneyland Park in Anaheim, CA, there’s a house in Los Angeles where The Walt Disney Company got its start. In 1923, the house belonged to Walt Disney’s uncle, Robert Disney. Walt and his brother Roy moved in with their uncle and set up the first Disney studio in the one-car garage out back. There they started filming the Alice Comedies which was part of the original ...Alice’s Wonderland. Today, Disney is the highest-grossing media conglomerate in the world. Are you using your garage to its full capability? We can help you get there with our Garage Startup program! Follow the link now to find out more. http://ow.ly/Sz2M50CiVEh

With remote work as a valid opportunity for millions more knowledge workers, suddenly people can live a little further out of the city, where housing is more affordable (or at least you get more for your money). City-dwellers could trade their 1-bedroom condo for a 3-bedroom house with a backyard. But that doesn’t mean it’s a debate of town versus city. Both have amazing things to offer. For remote workers, it’s about offering the kind of community and amenities that are part of a fulfilling career and life.

Innisfil: A rural alternative. After hearing about what remote workers truly needed from a small town, Innisfil got to work. Our Work from Innisfil program will be geared toward helping remote workers build an enjoyable and fulfilling life outside of the big city chaos. We are growing consciously so we don’t lose our natural beauty and small-town feel, but at the same time are building the amenities, access and variety that are necessary for remote workers. Instead of focusing only on dollars, we focused on building a better Innisfil for current and future residents, with a specific eye to offering amenities that benefit and include everyone.

#FortuneFriday In 1976, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, ages 21 and 26 respectively, started Apple Computers by selling 50 units of Wozniak’s Apple I Computer at $500 apiece to a local retailer. Jobs took the purchase order to a parts distributor and ordered the parts. The Steves and their small team hand-built 50 computers in 30 days from a garage in Cupertino, CA. Today, Apple is the most valuable technology company in the world. Have you heard about our Garage Startup program? It might just be what you need to take your startup to the next level! http://ow.ly/p5YC50CgIdD.
