The weatherman says that there may be snow and colder temperatures on the way. The calendar says February 5. Spring is officially a long ways away. Yet the bulbs are reaching up to the sun and the blooms are starting to appear.
Who has more fun than otters? They have a lot of fun sliding in the snow on our dock .
Not only is the lake beautiful and glassy smooth on this frosty morning, but it is already getting light outside at 7:15am! The darkest days of winter have passed, we are all hoping the worst days of the pandemic are past also. Let's look forward to sunnier days and sunnier times ahead.
Anyone planning on taking a ferry on or off the Island today should check B.C. Ferries website. Most sailings after 11am are canceled due to the weather that is on our way.
Merry Christmas to all. It may not be on our Christmas tree, but this tiny hummingbird makes a gorgeous tree topper.

A 7.4 magnit...ude earthquake has hit off the Alaska, and tsunami warnings have been issued for Kodiak, Alaska and the Alaskan peninsula. An unusual visitor! This morning we found this little one mixed in with all of the Canada Geese we regularly see on the lake. It appears to be a lonely snow goose, likely just migrated from the far north.

The smoke from the wildfires raging across California, Oregon, Washington State, and here in BC is hiding our sun. As much as we hate the smoke, it is heartbreaking to realize the destruction the fires are doing in those massive areas being directly affected.
