Individual mental health is spoken quite freely as many actions are being taken to end the stigmas around mental health concerns. However, it still seems to be a topic that some employers don't discuss in its full detail. Simply saying that you are there for your employees is not enough. Actions need to be taken in order to encourage discussions regarding mental health, resources need to be provided for staff to use, and psychological safety has to be a main priority. The ef...fects of mental health does not only affect the individual that is struggling, but also the employer and company. Poor mental health among employees can result in low productivity, less communication, poor performance, and drive to get tasks done could decrease. As an employer, you can help promote the importance of mental health and and help guide employees on how to manage stressful work days, situations, or conflicts. If it is something beyond your control, there are resources you can provide to assist individuals in overcoming these struggles. If you are an employer and you would like to become a better leader by incorporating promotion of mental health in your workplace, or perhaps provide your employees with resources reach out to us for assistance.
