For Children’s Vision Month, here are 4 reasons your child needs a complete eye exam: 1. Preschoolers don’t often complain because they don’t know if their vision is poor. Kids are used to how they see because they don’t have anything to compare it to. You may not even be able to tell that they have any eye problems. 2. Learning is 80% visual for children (that are sighted). Learning and vision go hand in hand so set your child up for success. Vision problems can often be ...misdiagnosed as learning disabilities. 3. Screenings can miss common vision problems in children. School or family doctor screenings do not replace complete eye exams. They typically only assess a few areas related to vision and don’t assess the full health of your child’s eyes. 4. Early detection can prevent permanent vision loss. Lazy eye refers to amblyopia which is poor vision in one eye, a commonly diagnosed condition in children. This can be treated so that vision can develop properly, but the older a child gets the less likely it is that they will achieve full visual potential in their poorer eye. #childrensvisionmonth #childrensvision #parenting #parentingtips #babies #health #momtips

Even if a child has 20/20 vision, there could be underlying visual processing issues related to eye muscle coordination, focusing ability, colour perception, or depth perception. A comprehensive eye exam tests for visual acuity, visual function, and overall ocular health. #childrensvisionmonth #bookaneyeexamtoday

After many hours of careful deliberation, we have decided to close to non-urgent care in order to protect our staff and patients and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community. If you have a routine appointment scheduled, you will be contacted to reschedule. As healthcare providers, our goal is to lessen the strain currently felt on the healthcare system and our hard-working physician and other healthcare colleagues. We will... be opening for limited hours by appointment only for urgent care. If you have an urgent eye care need, please call our office at 902-422-4444 to be triaged. We ask for your understanding if we cannot examine you or return your call or e-mail immediately as we are operating with a limited team. Please also understand that, if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, have traveled, or are in close contact with someone who is ill or has traveled, we cannot accommodate you at this time and you must call 811 to be triaged. Unfortunately, due to limited time and resources, we cannot accept new patients at this time. We would love the opportunity to meet you in a few months. We continue to work behind the scenes to fill prescriptions and deliver contact lenses and eyeglasses. If you call us when youve arrived in our parking lot, we can walk your eyeglasses out to your car. We can also deliver your contact lenses to your home. Our website is up and running and you can place your contact lens orders; we would greatly appreciate your business during this time. Thank you for your patience and for your support of small businesses during this unprecedented event.

Its #AmdAwarenessMonth...whats that?! Macular Degeneration (AMD) forms when theres a build-up of deposits under the macula, the center of the retina. The most common type (80%) is called "Dry" and can gradually affect your central vision. The less common "Wet" AMD can suddenly steal your sight. Both can lead to blindness and early detection is the most important part. See your optometrist regularly to assess your risk for AMD and other eye diseases BEFORE you have problems.
