About Me As you know my name is Michael Merritt. I live in Ottawa Canada, and am currently employed as a service delivery manager for a managed services company. Previously I had a career at the public school board here in Ottawa working in the IT department for 25 years. I retired in 2014, and moved to the Philippines, where I lived for a year. I am married to Natallie and she is currently living in Angeles City, Philippines. We are in the process of doing her permanent resi...dence application, so she can come to Canada to join me here. That is a whole different post I will be putting up here in the future. Suffice to say we have been trying for five years to be reunited as a husband and wife. It will happen next year, I feel it. I have traveled to different destinations in the world, including multiple times to the Philippines, the US, the Bahamas, and almost every corner of Canada. My travel plans in the future include a trip back to the Philippines next year to bring Natallie back to Canada. A two week vacation to Paris, and a train trip to Venice, hopefully in 2022. Bringing Natallie to visit Toronto, Montreal, and Niagara Falls here in Canada next year (depending on when she arrives here). A wintertime Carrabin holiday, and an extra-long weekend getaway to New York City. Plus of course future visits with Natallie back to her homeland. I will be posting lots of stories on all these travels in future posts, with lots of pics, so watch for those. I follow world events very closely, and will have lots of insight and opinions to share in the future. My current beef is with Canada’s terrible immigration laws, and the absolute cruelty of keeping families separated due to the archaic rules and regulations to come to this Country. Believe it or not, it is much easier for a couple or family to get into the United States than it is in Canada. Hard to believe a country like Canada that is begging for immigrants allows a woman and her dog to come here, yet won’t allow her to bring her son. And Canada can keep a legally married couple like Natallie and myself apart for five years while we wait for them to decide if we are a real couple. This topic will be one of my new posts. Watch for it coming shortly. While the world waits for humanity to win the war against covid 19 (I refuse to capitalize the name of the enemy), we can all do our part to battle this thing. Please everyone out there, wear a mask, keep your distance in public, and for God’s sake do everything you can not to spread this terrible disease. Until the reinforcements arrive (namely the vaccine) Lets all do our part to battle this enemy. More on covid in another post. I have introduced myself, and told you a bit about me.
