File this under Covid distractions! I took an iconic image (Banksy) and reproduced it for a friends office at her request. I brought her into the process despite her protests about not being a "hands on" kinda gal. By the end she was so happy to have worked on it and it now hangs in her office for inspiration ,laughs and a reminder of how good it is to explore new things.
Very fun to get to get brought in by Decorate Victoria with Huff N Puff to do some windows at Hillside. Using their very colourful trees to bring our Grinch inspired props to life, made a happy upbeat Christmas scene!
Very surprised and impressed to get a Covid related partial refund on my biz insurance from Intact Insurance Intact Assurance which I did not apply for but qualified for as my business is one severely affected by the pandemic. Seriously, that is pretty great. Thanks for making my day.
I did have the feeling I was being watched doing that last set up on the farm....just saying
Down on the farm... a lunch for 4 called for a little bit of glam to compliment the barnboard. This beautiful loft looked out over a chicken coop at one end and a goat pen at the other. So fun to work on this with Elise Williamson and Kaelhub Cudmore. The beautiful old bed tucked into the corner allowed the chickens to come home to roost.
Loving working in the Saanich peninsula with Elise Williamson to create environments for unique outdoor dining experiences. A talented team brings it all together. This is at the Deep Cove Winery. Perfect for a small group and all socially distanced seating.
Here come the pink flamingos...do they ever really go away!! I had fun designing for a backyard Tiki Grad party with a colourful photo wall, bar area and of course lots of flamingoes and tiki touches everywhere. Thank you HBL Events !
It's Grad Day at Oak Bay High and pop ups are everywhere. It's not often I get to work on my own street, steps from my house, but thrilled to contribute with this backdrop. Congrats to all the grads and a special shout out to Nutty their mascot for bringing it on a hot hot day!!
A little birdie told me that Bespoke Blossoms created this flower adornment for Emily Carr and her dog Billie for everyone to enjoy! What a lovely surprise to brighten downtown and make everyone smile. Thank you!!!
Yes it's a long shot.... but looking to sell for .50 ea. these silver chargers with the cut out design. Design looks a little bit Swedish- folk to me. Have approx. 70 of them.
I'm starting my day with fresh lilacs courtesy of my lovely neighbor, it's going to be a good day!
So it's been 50 days since this all started (or finished depending on your viewpoint). I still have this heart in front of our house and it has been wonderful to see people smile and comment when passing. Hang in everyone and hope to see friends and colleagues soon.
Went walking in downtown Victoria and had no trouble social distancing. It was so eerily quiet. I was struck by the blaze of colour of the gardens at the Empress. Their stately doors were closed but the flower blooms were wide open and welcoming.
The Two Metre Table....just a little lighthearted fun with what I had on hand to create the dinner table with everything you need when stuck at home. We have toilet paper of course, hand wipes, kleenex, glass beakers and of course a measuring tape to make sure you are socially distancing. Bon appetite!
Nice cozy time spent setting up a FAM . A little bit of Westcoast modern on beautiful handmade wood tables. Love these lanterns and yes you can rent them.
We are in the midst of creating concepts for the Distinguished Entrepreneur of the Year Awards with the team from University of Victoria School of Business. It's our 16th year designing for this event and this year's honoree was just announced! Event will now be held in January 2020.
A few more shots of the Jingle Mingle fundraiser. All photos by Rob Campbell.
Our second year designing for Jingle Mingle, the B.C.Cancer Foundation's evening fundraiser, was all about creating warmth and a golden glow for this years event. This elegant night raised funds and raised spirits!
Thanks MacGillivray & Associates Destination & Event Management Inc. (M&A)for asking me in to help bring together this dinner at the Fairmont Empress Shaughnessy room. The over the top fabulous flowers were designed by FINE FLORAL DESIGNS. Nice to work with a pro like Kelly Pitt alongside!
Really good turnout for opening of show at Legacy Gallery. "We Carry our Ancestors" showcases beautiful Indigenous woven baskets of all kinds . In the smaller interior gallery are fabulous fashions designed by Yolanda Skelton. I also included a work in progress shot when Roger was working on the displays in the Gallery, it just shows a small number of the baskets on display.
The "emotional roller" coaster courtesy of Four Frames Photography at the Destination Victoria mixer. thanks it was fun! click for video
Was thinking about my hands and how busy they are from morning to night when you "work with your hands" you don't often think about them. I paused to take a few pictures today from the morning tea ritual to the end of day. It sure beats having to pose for a selfie!
This is such a beautiful event from Decor n More that balances dramatic vignettes in a large space with well thought out details on the tables and a gorgeous mix of patterns and shapes. Enjoy!
Our 15th year of creating designs for the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business annual awards dinner. This year was a walk in the woods compared to some others and they really put the guest in the hot seat as you will see. My first "fire" on stage. Thanks to the Victoria Conference Centre for all their assistance and to Christine and Carla Photography for their beautiful photos. A big thank you to Foxgloves Flowers for their lovely work on the forest greens!
We worked on a celebration hosted by Gustavson UVic to honour Newspaper publisher David Black. We kept it light and "springy" with newspaper flowers mixed into the arrangements and a fun graphic on the white planters. lavender and apple blossoms from the garden made the arrangements fragrant too!
Harking back to Christmas 2018 and working ahead on the next Jingle Mingle!
