Trying something new for our BASEM sustainable mining practices class this year. To really give them the perspective of mining, I built a couple mines that the students will now work on for the semester making up project teams and accomplishing various tasks and activities. This project is designed to have them physically work through problems that the mining industry encounters, while attempting to realistically make choices that are meeting environmental and socio-economica...l goals. So far I’m pretty stoked! We are lucky to have a small group that is in their own bubble so we can keep hands on learning happening.
