Hey IPP Community! We're back this week with another recipe to try this holiday season! All of our recipes are approved by our in-house dietician, Johnie! This week's recipe is a tasty dessert that is perfect for chilly winter nights! Apples and quinoa paired together with some amazing spices, a delicious combination! Here's the recipe ... 1. Preheat your oven to 350 F. Spray a 9 x 9-inch brownie pan with cooking spray. 2. Spread one-half of the raisins on the bottom of the brownie pan. 3. Add apple slices and spread evenly over the pan. 4. Sprinkle cinnamon over apples. Add sunflower seeds and the remainder of raisins, then sprinkle on the quinoa. 5. Pour water into the corner of the pan so it coats the bottom; don't pour over apples. 6. Bake 50 to 60 minutes, taking care not to burn the raisins. Happy Monday! As many of you continue to work from home, many patients have been expressing that they are feel stiff and tired from sitting in a chair all day. Our physiotherapist Jessica has created a series of exercises that you can do right from your desk to help decrease any tension you may be feeling and to help improve posture! 1. Sitting Chair Extension stretch: When sitting in your chair at work place your feet firmly on the floor and your hands behind your head. E...xtend backwards feeling the stretch in the mid back. Hold 5s 10 reps, 3x/day 2. Chair Rotation stretch: Sit on a chair with your feet on the ground and back in neutral position. Turn your upper body to one side moving at the middle back and keeping your feet pointed straight. Increase the stretch by pulling yourself with the back of the chair. Hold 5sx 10 reps, 3x/day 3. Elastic External rotation 90 degrees: When sitting in your chair, place your feet on the floor, sit up straight and hold the ends of an elastic in your hands, palms facing each other. Rotate your forearms away from your body keeping your elbows next to your body at 90 degrees. Make sure you are squeezing your shoulder blades together. 10 reps, 3x/day 4. Mini Cobra on the desk: When sitting in your chair place your feet on the floor with your forearms flat on the desk. Extend your head and chest backwards.
