Interesting study on the effects of diet and onset of menopause.

Wise words from my friend and colleague Dr. Joanne Perron. She is an expert in environmental toxins and public health:This was my comment to Bill Maher about his anti-vaccine stance on Friday night’s show: I understand the concern and frustration all of us have about arrogance in medicine. As a physician working with other physicians and a cancer patient, I confirm it exists. Nevertheless, promoting vaccines as a cause of autism because of greedy pharmaceutical companies and... closed-minded physicians is malarkey, akin to President Pinnochio saying that noisy wind turbines cause cancer. Numerous epidemiological studies all over the world have shown that vaccines are not the cause of autism. If you really want to understand the etiology of autism, your time would be better spent looking at in-utero exposure to toxic chemicals, which you gave a cursory nod to. Newer science into the cause of autism is looking at an altered microbiome. We know that genetic factors play a role as well. I would love to see you bring environmental scientists who can discuss this: Dr. Linda Birnbaum, Dr. Brenda Eskenazi, or Dr. Tracey Woodruff. Anecdotal medicine, i.e., the family with four autistic kids, has no place in a science-based discussion, even though it is profoundly sad. Are vaccines perfect in the prevention of infectious diseases? NO! So what if you, Bill, got a mild case of the flu from the flu vaccine. This study has been highly publicized and has rekindled fear in women about the use of hormones in menopause in relationship to breast cancer.
