Laboratory for Integrative Design 23.05.2021

Our paper "Balancing Design and Performance: Multi-objective optimization for the generation of high-performance façade panels for retrofitting" will be presented next week in the frame of the Symposium on Simulation for Architecture and Urban Design 2021 online. The paper provides knowledge into applying multi-objective optimization as a form-finding process that integrates thermal, material and robotic fabrication parameters for the generation of high-performance, customiz...ed façade panels for retrofitting. The research is kindly supported by DIALOG architects and Ferguson corporation as part of a 3-year research project. The paper will be #openaccess after the conference on the ACM digital library: http://www.simaud.org/proceedings/ Looking forward to the online conference! http://www.simaud.org/2021/program.php

This is a painful thing to have to share but also a meaningful way to honor Kurtis’ life and his memory.

Kurtis Nishiyama was one of our first research assistants in the Laboratory for Integrative Design. He tragically and unexpectedly passed away earlier this year. His wife and friends have been working on this project to honor his dedication to diversity in architecture and support future students of architecture. Please consider supporting this funding campaign. https://crowdfunding.ucalgary.ca//kurtis-nishiyama-memoria
