While the iDESIGN inc. storefront isn’t quite ready for its big reveal; I am overwhelmed by the EXCITEMENT I have had from clients! There are already so many amazing iDESIGN client spaces already filled iDESIGN furniture & decor & I can’t wait to share them all. First up this cozy little corner!

How do you charcuterie....? My go to charcuterie ingredients include, cured meats, an assortment of cheeses (usually a spreadable cheese like Boursin & more often than not a smoked cheese, typically Gouda), grapes, candied nuts, dried apricots, crackers, jelly & olives. I don’t typically get too fancy.... but I do love to pull at least one of these together over the course of a weekend. When styling these custom live edge floating shelves at a recent iDESIGN rec room projec...t I thought what better than to include a few different boards of different sizes & materials. When you have open shelves in a kitchen or a bar area like we do here the key is to style them with items that look beautiful but also function; it’s an important balance that can make or beak your open shelving love affair.

I don’t know about you, but a properly organized mudroom can really set the tone for how I feel about my home. It is the last thing I see before leaving for work in the morning and the first thing I see when I get home at the end of the day. My children have a tendency to just dump their items on the floor & walk away! . Drives me crazy!!! Any little bit of added functionality in a mudroom is key to organizational success here peeps! ... In this little mudroom update we simply added some wall paneling, hooks & this beautiful custom oak bench. There was only room for about 12 in depth, so custom was definitely the way to go here! It’s amazing how much this has added to the space! I wish I had snapped a before. . At this time of year, I stress even more than usual about projects that I have underway... wanting to have everything wrapped up like a present for my clients in time for Christmas! Naturally, during this time I often reflect on past projects in which I was working on with a Christmas deadline!!! This project here was a christmas of 2018 project & to date it is still one of my FAVOURITE transformations. ... The original kitchen was a u-shape & there really wasn’t much counter space & zero way to fit in an island or peninsula..... it was also tucked away at the back of the house, with no sight line to the living space & there was also this weird little hallway that connected the kitchen to the dining room (just at the top of the back entry stairs)..... it was wasted space in a home where every square inch matters. By re-arranging the layout, switching the location of the kitchen & dining room (& taking down a wall) we were able to make an amazing kitchen with an 8FT island, full height pantry space, an open concept entertainment area plus a dining room! The Beatyof this new kitchen is just one small component about what I love about this space. The added functionality & better yet longevity of this newly designed house to my clients takes the cake in my books! Oh how I a great design!
