Whats your outlet? I strongly believe that at different times in our life, everyone has frustration, or anger about life. The current world situation is challenging for many. And we all need some sort of outlet for our feelings and emotions. For many people, including me, movement is one of my best outlets! If you have followed me for a while, you will know that exercise is one of my major coping strategies! ... Let’s be real, no one wants to workout with a mask on! But when it comes to workout or not, I choose a mask. It’s about finding one that works for you to still feel like you can breath OR take your workouts outside!! But don’t stop moving!! I’m still hanging out at 30 minute hit and it feels so good to take some frustration out on ol’ Bob! #movement #penticton #supportlocal #30minutehit #exercise #coping

I had an epiphany this evening about my level of energy the last couple months. I know that the current world situation can be exhausting and I thought that I was coping with it. But I still feel tired, drained and unmotivated many days. I realized that I have been running on an empty battery. This empty feeling was not a lacking of time for self-care or a lack of sleep. It was that I am not get the type of self-care that I need! The self-care I need is connecting with other...s, which is hard to do at this time. I am an extrovert, how extroverts recharge is by connecting with others. There has been a serious lack of this in life right now. This may seem very obvious to some but for me I didn't realize how much I need this connection to other humans. Zoom and FaceTime are just not cutting it! I need real human connection, touch and face to face time (outside of all the hugs and cuddles I get from my hubby and kids;) I need to plug into others energy, which is hard to do from a distance. I am not sure if I will be able to fully recharge my battery any time soon but I do know that outdoor walks with a friend are a good start. Socially distanced of course;) Each day we must make a choice about what is best for our overall health and wellbeing. Mental health and wellbeing can not be forgot in this holistic picture. How are you other extroverts coping? How do you recharge that need for social connection? See more

I was listening to a webinar by Living Alchemy. I love this graph about homeostasis. Being in health is not ever going to look exactly the same over time. There are going to be bumps in health and it will look different depending on what is going on in your life. Everyone’s tolerance for health is different but you can still be in the range for health. This means that we can be more kind to ourselves and more flexible with our health routines and goals depending on what works at that point in your life.

Post @pentictonhit workout dinner. Each week my husband and I both take a night off for self care. Doesn’t matter what we do but it’s a night off from dinner with the kids and bedtime routines. It’s my night out and part of my self-care is getting out of the house. Even with the restrictions I choose to support local restaurants and take care of me!! This took me to Wild scallion for salad wraps and peanut sauce. They also have the best ginger tea! I am so grateful to be able to take this time for myself. I appreciate my sweet hubby encouraging me to get out of the house because he knows it feeds my soul. What self care routines can you continue to enjoy? #supportlocal #penticton #wellness #selfcare #balance #health #yum #peanutsauce #wraps #30minuteworkout

This was a post shared by a Norwex consultant. Shocking statistics. Defiantly worth exploring what is going into your body on all levels. Not just through your food.

Monday’s can be tough. Especially dreary winter Monday’s. Here’s my tips to stay on top of your health, even on a winter Monday; *take your vitamin d- in Canada we don’t get enough sunshine especially in the winter. Vitamin d is our sunshine vitamin that helps lift winter blues. Minimum of 1000IU but often people need more. Bonus is that vitamin d also supports our immune system. *find a workout buddy to keep you motivated all winter. People som...etimes struggle with maintaining that exercise/movement routine in the winter because we just want to snuggle up in our cozies. Find someone that can keep you moving, even on the coldest days. Movement increases endorphins which help us feel alive and happy. *find some delicious winter warming recipes-don’t forget to change up your food to accommodate the seasonal change. In the winter our bodies naturally crave more hardy food. Crockpots recipes are great in the winter. Check out my recipes page on my website for soups and curry recipes. These are just a few of my tips to easy a cooler grey day. What helps you make the transition to cooler days with easy? #winter #happy #care #exercise #balance #vitamind #sunshine #immunity See more

How is the current world situation treating your body? Is there anxiety showing up in unexpected areas of your body? For me, right now, I’m am managing well. First round of covid panic in April was not so calm for me but thankfully this time around my body and mind are coping well. I think that it helps being more rested and having some great personal care practices in place. I also think that it is less alarming because it is not a brand new thing. There is something about the unknown that is more nerve-racking than something that is familiar. Where is your body at? What is your currently level of anxiety? #anxiety #wellness #panic #coping #stress #selfcare

Today is mental health day. Take a moment to call someone you know who has struggled or is struggling with mental health. Hearing a friendly voice can change someone’s day. Remember that you are not alone. If you are struggling with mental health reach out. Even if it’s just a text asking someone to call you. You don’t have to suffer in silence. #mentalhealth #wellness #balance #support #community #friends #askforhelp

I call this ‘didn’t have leftovers for lunch’ salad. Went to pack my lunch this morning and realized we didn’t have our normal leftovers from dinner so I grabbed a can of lentils and corn and threw it into a container. I had an apple and cucumber that I chopped up at work. Topped it all off with some little creek dressing and voila-lunch. Pretty tasty. It’s not too cold here today so I was okay having this salad cold but it would work well with the lentils and corn heated on a colder day. #lunch #quicklunch #healthyfood #simplefood #wellness #balance

Where are you at today? If you know someone who is struggling or in crisis please pick up the phone and call them. Maybe arrange a safe outdoor visit. Mental health challenges are more real than ever, some people can not survive in isolation!!!

From empty to full in minutes. Just received my @klskinnaturals deodorant refills. I have a mini for my gym bag so I remember to fill that one too this time. You receive a bar that looks like a soap bar. Once you melt that bar (I used the double boil method), get get a yummy smelling liquid to fill your old containers. I let it cool over night and voila, deodorant is ready to go. Extra bonus is the whole house smells delicious too!! #zerowaste #deodorant #smelly #yum #simplelife #holistic #wellness #toxinfree

At my last naturopathic appointment, my naturopath said that what I needed was more water and more sleep. Amazing that sometimes we forgot how much these small things can effect us. Health doesn’t have to be complicated. Drink clean water, eat food with love, breath and sleep. What do you do to help you drink enough water throughout the day? For me I usually mix my water with some flavour like Vega electrolytes or my warm lemon water in the morning. In the evening I always end the day with powdered magnesium in warm water. Tea is a great option as the days get cooler. Just remember to limit fluid intake close to meals as it can dilute enzymes needed for digestion. 30 minutes before or after meals is a good timeline to avoid large amounts of fluids. #digest #eat #drink #water #hydrate #sleep #health #wellness #balance

In a recent article that I stumbled upon, one of the top tools for healthy living was to take care of your relationships. I think that we underestimate the power of healthy relationships on our overall wellbeing and longevity. One study showed that people who have close friends and family are healthier and live much longer than those who do not. Schedule in some time with that good pal. Your bodies and brains will thank you. #health #longevity #agewell #balance #mentalhealth #friends #support

With the smoky skies it’s important to support those lungs. Vitamin c rich food and supplements are a good start. NAC is also a great support for lung health on these smoky days. https://aor.ca/products/n-a-c/

Many people are overrun by tomatoes right now. I had lots of ones that were very ripe. I didn’t have plans for a tomato sauce dinner so I threw them in my smoothie. It actually worked very well. Couldn’t even tell they were there and I put 2 medium ones in! Tomato’s are a great source of vitamin C, potassium, folate, and vitamin K. They are also the major dietary source of the antioxidant lycopene. Eat them up!! Except if you are avoiding nightshades then pass them onto someone else . #tomoato #food #smoothie #yum #breakfast #balance #freshfood #local #garden
