Hi Friends! Intersections is currently recruiting youth for our upcoming 2017 Workshops. Intersections is a non-profit charitable organization that offers a BladeRunners digital media and life skills workshop and work experience opportunity to youth facing multiple barriers to employment. Through the unique and familiar medium of art and digital filmmaking as well as involvement in group-based projects, Intersections participants gain the experience and confidence for long-t...erm attachment to the workforce. Participants learn practical employability and life skills including: Work readiness (resume and interview training and job search techniques) Financial literacy Health and wellness (nutrition, exercise, workplace safety) One-on-one sessions which address personal barriers, mental health in the workplace and personal responsibility They also gain work related certifications, including: Serving it Right, WHMIS, First Aid and Food Safe. The program includes four weeks of workshops (Monday to Friday 9:30am-4:00pm) and a potential 210 hour work experience placement. In addition, participants will be paid minimum wage ($11.35/hour) during their time at Intersections. Our next intake begins on Monday, October 30th, and we currently have a few spots left!
