Please see below information on a job opportunity. To whom it may concern, My name is Kory Monteith, I am an IV. GB graduate. I am personally requesting the... support of a qualified Intervenor from the graduating program at GBC. I currently work with a student in grade 7 and am looking to retire from this position. We live in a small mountain town in Golden B.C. surrounded by the beautiful Rockies and Percell mountains. We have a lovely community with all the outdoor adventures you could dream of. We have Kicking Horse Mountain Resort ski hill, water sports, endless biking/hiking trails. We are close to lakes and beaches. If you live in town, you can easily walk or bike anywhere you need to. I have loved working for Rocky Mountain School District 6. We have a strong work community, and we have a thriving and amazing team of teachers. We work with a team of 6 who support our student. This team is a blessing, we work cohesively to support the students needs in every way. So about my student -Matt- grade 7, he is making the big move to high school next year. He has a CVI diagnosis, he has hearing aids, glasses, and uses speech to communicate. He uses an fm system, and writes and does his work on a laptop. Matt is the best, he has a great spirit, and personality. He loves school and is super motivated to learn, and participate in everything. He has a great sense of humour and is happy. Because of the small town and lack of resources Matt did not have a proper diagnosis until later on in life, and did not have a properly trained IV. until he was 9. Over the last 4 years Matt has made huge strides forward in learning to do things independently. He continues to build new skills and learn new information about the world and how things work. He is developing social skills, and looks forward to high school. Mom is strongly involved in all decisions and is a strong advocate in Matts life. We are looking forward to a new chapter in Matts life, and looking forward to meeting and working with his new Intervenor. If you have any questions about the details of the job, or about Matt please call or message me. [email protected] , 250-290-1922. This job has not been posted because we need a proper IV in town for me to be able to leave the position. Thank you for your consideration.

We need your expertise! The IOO is currently conducting interviews with people who are DeafBlind, family members, and intervenors in Canada for our "National Sample Survey of Intervenors in Canada" project. Each interview will be approximately 1 - 2 hours in length and will focus on intervenor training/qualifications, the services intervenors provide, and the possibility of a national organization for intervenors. If you are interested in participating, please email: [email protected]. Please note, for this project, we are only looking to speak with DeafBlind people, families, and direct service intervenors who currently live in Canada and are involved with the Canadian DeafBlind community.
