Serena Williams is an American tennis player who completely revolutionized women's tennis. Celebrated for winning the most Grand Slam singles titles of any player during the open era, Williams holds an incredibly impressive (and long!) list of achievements. Despite receiving negative backlash from the media about her appearance and her craft, among other things, Serena has continued to gracefully inspire aspiring athletes of all genders, saying, "Think of all the girls who could become top athletes but quit sports because they’re afraid of having too many defined muscles and being made fun of or called unattractive," and "I’m just opening the next door for the next person." Amazing! #StrongNotWrong #BlackHistoryMonth #Community #Leadership #Inspiration

As a Calgary Youth Justice Society program, we know that every young person has value - and we, alongside the Youth Justice Committees, work to make sure that every young person who comes through our (virtual) doors leaves knowing what they're worth - hint: it's a LOT! Since 1996, we have been lucky enough to touch the lives of over thirteen THOUSAND young people (circa 2019) - and we couldn't do the work we do without the interest, willingness, and vibrance of every Young Leader we've met. Thank you, Young Leaders! #StrongNotWrong #InTheLead #CYJS #Community #Leadership #GiveBack #VolunteerYyc #YycStrong #YycNow

To the children of our country, regardless of your gender, our country has sent you a clear message: Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way that others might not see you, simply because they’ve never seen it before. And we will applaud you every step of the way. We couldn’t highlight inspiring Black role models and leaders throughout Black History Month without featuring the new VP, Kamala Harris. Harris was recently sworn in as the first ever ...female Vice President, as well as the first ever Black and South Asian Vice President. She has paved the way and will continue to inspire people of all ages, especially Black women and POC, who may have never been able to envision themselves in such a position before. You were the first Kamala, but you won’t be the last! #StrongNotWrong #BlackHistoryMonth #Community #Leadership #Inspiration #YycNow

What comes to mind when you read this question... Do you think of the life-changing decision you made two years ago? Or do you think back to that night last week when you decided to order from your favourite local restaurant instead of cooking dinner, and it was the best decision you made all day? No matter how big or small, we want to hear what you think your best decision was, and why it sticks out for you! Comment below to share, and keep an eye out for our next post to hear our Social Media Coordinator’s! #StrongNotWrong #InTheLead #CYJS #Community #Leadership #VolunteerYyc #YycNow

The focus must be on the work, it must be on the craft, it must be on what it is you’re doing on a daily basis... you can learn a lot more from the failures than the successes. Kobe Bryant (1978-2020) was a basketball legend who often spoke about how failure is best to be learned from, not feared. An amazing role model and an inspiration, he is missed every day. #StrongNotWrong #BlackHistoryMonth #Leadership #Inspiration #RestInPower

Posted @withregram @missbertels_ art by @domandink // today is #TransDayOfRemembrance, and here’s my hill to die on: I feel very strongly that if you’re a person who exists in the world and especially one who works with kids, then you need to make sure you’re committed to supporting ALL kids, ALL the time. It’s non-negotiable. Daily contact with children means doing everything in your power to acknowledge and protect them. Unfortunately, we need days like today to remind us that failing to affirm our youth as they navigate the world can sometimes be deadly. Be better. That’s all Well said. #strongnotwrong
