Duetothe lockdown our start date this season has been pushed back to Friday, January 29 2021. Excellent way to enjoy socially distanced skiing--no lift rides to share, we skin up then ski down! Morning or afternoon sessions: 9:30 to Noon, 1:00 to 3:30. Plan to arrive at least a half hour beforehand to organize rental skis, skins, etc. Cost: $100 per session plus $50 for rental equipment; $50 for Club pass for non-Heights members. Please call or text Rob Butler for details: 705 721-6123.

Dear friends, and friends of friends, and everyone who took the time to read Corey’s story and experience with the Pieps DSP beacon failure, THANK YOU, from the... bottom of my heart. I’ve been completely overwhelmed with your kindness, your encouragement, your stories, and your willingness to share Corey’s story around the world. My goal has always been to get this beacon off the market by raising awareness of its inherent design flaw and safety risk. By sharing our story, you are playing an important role in ensuring that no one else suffers the loss my family and friends have, the trauma Nick McNutt and his team experienced, and the close calls many have shared with me, when the Pieps beacon incorrectly switched modes. It's clear Corey's experience was never a one-off. While there still has been no official recall from Pieps/Black Diamond, it’s obvious that the pressure we collectively have been applying is working. Pieps’ most recent post on Instagram, and offer to upgrade to the latest generation of our avalanche transceivers is a step (albeit only an IG post)... At least it’s a step. Prior to this, there’s been nothing but resistance, deflection and blaming user error. However, this is NOT enough, Pieps/Black Diamond! This is not an official recall. This is not getting the transceivers off the market. And, this is not a commitment to stopping the production of this beacon. It’s putting the onus on individuals to come forward if they have concerns. But we have yet to see how this will play out. So please, help me and help Nick McNutt, Christina Lustenberger and Ian McIntosh continue to make noise. Let’s get the Pieps DSP Sport and Pro OFFICIALLY RECALLED. People have been asking what you can do to help - thank you! Here are some suggestions: Email, call, post, tweet, Pieps/Black Diamond and demand a recall Keep sharing these stories and spreading awareness to your friends and family If you or someone you know owns the Pieps DSP Sport or Pro models, contact Pieps/Black Diamond and request a refund or upgrade (and remind them that a full recall is needed). If you see this beacon in a store, talk to the manager. Encourage retailers to contact Pieps/Black Diamond and return these beacons Highlight the safety concerns with the Pieps DSP Sport and Pro models on online reviews And finally, if you’re in the backcountry this season and you see someone with this beacon, please share the widespread safety concerns. Who knows, you may just save a life! For those of you interested in more information on the Pieps DSP beacon controversy, please check these out recent articles (and more to come!): https://www.piquenewsmagazine.com//pieps-transceiver-issue https://beta.ctvnews.ca//british/2020/10/17/1_5149893.html https://powdercanada.com//pieps-dps-beacon-has-mechanisms/ https://www.tetongravity.com//whats-going-on-with-those-pi THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

While we aren’t ...in the office every day anymore, we are still taking reservations directly online through our website or you can email [email protected] to request a quote. We are wishing everyone well during these uncertain times. See more

The Fifty Project Episode 24: Mt Shuksan. The towering mountain steals your eye and sends shivers down your spine. Its glaciated terrain is always moving letti...ng loose torrential avalanches at a moment's notice. Its northern faces are steep, wild and fraught with peril. It takes perfect timing along with a union of perfect conditions to ski it. After ten years of waiting for that union, the time has come. Cody Townsend is joined by fellow Salomon athletes Stan Rey and Alexi Godbout for an attempt to ski the steep and heavily exposed Northwest Couloir.
