I shared this one on my personal page yesterday...I like it and wanted to share it here too Some ideas: ~Drink a glass of water... ~Stand up and stretch ~Say something nice to *yourself*, shush that inner critic for 5 seconds ~go outside and put your face towards the Sun for 10 seconds ~if some part of your body hurts, stop doing what makes it hurt. Reposition yourself. Take the 3 minutes to readjust something (desk, chair, computer....whatever) Stay Awesome Everybody
For anyone not on the email list....here is the latest update. https://mailchi.mp/fab78996fd18/the-short-and-long-of-it
One day I will work with the sticks and circles again... Just to let everyone know (fingers crossed) I will be back working the circles and sticks April 5th. Recovery does *not* go as planned...ever. ... One step forward, two back...then one to the side...maybe a little spin. Kind of like a really bad polka Speak about this often in the treatment room...would be lying if I said its not a humbling experience when its yourself. Stay Awesome Everybody
"Healing" is funny word sometimes. It means different things to different people. But, often, in our culture it has an almost negative connotation. Like we're not supposed to need healing. Because "no pain, no gain" right?... Bullshit. If you're a being on this planet, something at some time is gonna need healing. Fun fact: when we go to sleep at night that's actually what the body is doing. It's in a healing/recovery phase. (now insomnia is a whole other post for another day....) And sometimes we need to step up that healing game. Right now, as our adrenaline from the last 12 months is wearing off, we're tired, overwhelmed, stressed, depressed, anxious, angry, tired, sad, and missing our best good healing practices.....and seriously pushing ourselves to a brink. Whoa. Breathe in. Breathe out. Hi For myself personally, my healing game is at an all time record due to the accident and the damn fatigue we've all got. And, I need it. Here is a list of what I'm utilizing (not saying everyone needs to do *all* the things)...but some food for thought.... And they ALL include the word Therapy. Massage Therapy Visceral Therapy Cranialsacral Therapy Physiotherapy Gool ol' fashioned talk therapy Nature Therapy Canine Therapy Feline Therapy Sleep Therapy Play Therapy Driving around listening to good music Therapy Dance Therapy Do nice things for myself Therapy Let's maybe entertain the thought that "therapy" is what the world needs right now. I know my world sure does Stay Awesome
Hey Everybody, For anyone not on the email list...here is the latest update... https://mailchi.mp/3504efdc/tidbits-and-an-apology-included
So about taking care of ourselves... If The Rock can do it...
Hey Everybody Just a quick check in to let everyone know that the online booking system is temporarily disabled. Due to the temporary new guidelines and restrictions this will be in effect until January 12, 2021. ... If you had not pre-booked for January, and would like to be added to a temporary waitlist, please send me an email or call with preferred dates and times. And a reminder that ALL Massage Therapy appointments require either a referral or prescription. (Psychologists, Dentists, Physiotherapists, Acupuncturists, Chiropractors and LPN's can write a referral, or a Medical Clinic can prescribe). And another reminder for how amazing it was (and is) to have seen so many of us give voice to the importance and recognition of Massage Therapy in Alberta! (on a side note, since RMT's were exempted I've had more calls in a single week from new to me clients than I've had for a year!! (Sadly at this time I am not accepting any ) That's what happens when you hit the news ) Stay Awesome Everybody
Doing a crossword puzzle...55 across made me chuckle Back to seeing clients tomorrow, so glad to be back doing what I do Also, because crossword puzzles have me seeing cross eyed ... #toomuchtimeonmyhands #massagestalbert #massagetherapyalberta
Hi Everybody! Whew! What a whirlwind this has been... Yes, RMT's have been exempted from the current restrictions (again, WOW! over 44, 000 of us signed the petition and at this time an unknown amount of us emailed and/or called in. That is how many of us utilize Massage Therapy regularly, because, it works.)... While restrictions for us are lifted, there is a caveat. Please see the following: (Please note, I will not be seeing any clients this week, for those with appointments in the coming two weeks you will be receiving an email shortly) As per the update provided by the Chief Medical Officer of Health, massage therapists are able to resume immediately providing services under the following guidelines: 1. All clients must have either a written prescription from a Medical Doctor, or a written referral from a regulated health professional (https://www.alberta.ca/regulated-health-professions.aspx) a. An existing written prescription is only valid if issued within the last 12 months. b. An existing written referral is only valid if issued within the last 12 months. c. A copy of the original written prescription or written referral is acceptable. d. The written prescription or written referral must be provided prior to receiving treatment. e. A copy of the written prescription or written referral must be kept in the client’s file. This exemption, which has been provided by the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) may be terminated or modified by the CMOH in writing without notice and for any reason as determined by the CMOH.
Hey Everybody! Yep, WE ARE STILL OPEN! (insert party dance here). Currently, I/we will continue operating just as we have since June ... Continuing with arrival no more than 5 minutes early and keeping post treatment chitchats to a minimum to ensure one client at at a time in clinic. Cleaning protocols will remain in place....and really, for the most part as they have been for the past 4 years minus the plastic sheet on the table that makes you feel like a kid Thanks everyone for reaching out, today was a little more intense than usual Stay Awesome Everybody!!
See!! We *can* feel lighter, taller, peaceful and a whole host of other good things! These are all feelings and thoughts from 2020 ... I read this sign Everyday. Every. Day. It reminds me of all the ways we can feel good Stay Awesome Everybody
Hey Everybody Many of you have heard today's latest update regarding Massage Therapists in Alberta. (This is where I would like to quickly throw in NICE JOB EVERYBODY!!! Change comes when we act together Thank you(!) to all who made their voices and concerns heard whether you wrote in, called or emailed. Amazing. Absolutely Amazing.) However, while they have exempted us from the current restrictions, they have a caveat:... You *must* have one of the following: Either a prescription from a MD for Massage Therapy OR a referral from a regulated industry. Now, I am looking into this as to what that actually means. Will keep everyone updated as I gather more information...
60 min opening tomorrow (Tuesday) @ 2:30pm. Click on the "Book Now" button ^^ above to book.

#FunFactFriday Muscles RMT's know them. ... Exceptionally well. We spend the first two years of our education eating, sleeping, breathing, palpating and dreaming of ALL the muscles of the Human Body. (and everything they connect to....) Did you know we even do Human Cadaver lab? (..... the magical Psoas muscle....) Seriously, we know our sh*t. In fact, we learn the entire Human Body in a very deep way. Any guesses from the picture below which type of muscle we manually work with most often? Happy Friyay(!) Everybody! Stay Awesome #massagetherapy #stalbert (picture is stock photo from internet)
#funfactfriday Waayyyy back in 2020 (and let's be real here, that feels like a hundred or so years ago ) I had started to put together some fun facts about Registered Massage Therapy in Alberta, to help with understanding how we can help and what we are (actually) trained for. So, starting small...did you know we are in school for two full years? And, all Registered Massage Therapists are required to belong to an Asscociation that also requires us to maintain educational cre...dits/training every year. For those Associations each Registered Massage Therapist is also required to maintain a clear vulnerable sector criminal check and up-to-date First Aid. In the coming weeks each Friday I will be sharing some cool stuff about what we do and how we help... Stay Awesome
A friend sent me this today... Okay, so have a super awesome day! Stay Awesome Peeps!
