And YARN will spay your mama dog for FREE and give her back. (guaranteed). HOW CAN YARN DO THAT? I am able to care for up to 6 litters in my home in Watson Lake (YARN’s home base) I have renovated my home to accommodate this easily. I also have many families in Whitehorse who foster dogs for YARN. We just have to get them a ride to their foster home. WHY DOES YARN DO THIS? I started rescuing dogs in 2012, to help lower the over-pup-ulation of dogs in the Yukon. When pups are given away for free, they are often not spayed or neutered, which greatly increases dog population. One female dog, her mate and descendants can produce over 60 thousand dogs in just 6 years. Many of those dogs will be unwanted and will suffer, which hurts my heart. IS IT WORKING? In 2019 alone, YARN handled 36 litters all pups went to responsible homes. And all mama dogs were spayed & returned. In 2020 YARN handled 24 litters. So far this year only 4 litters. I believe that YARN’s work is having some effect But spring is coming and I am already hearing about litters out there, that folks are not prepared to handle. YARN has homed over 1000 puppies now - and helped 1400+ animals total.
