Yesterday was a tough day. Learning and growing does not come easy. We had a tough lesson in how only we can control our reactions. A child I work regularly with struggles with taking responsibility for their actions, reactions and part they play in conflicts. Yesterday was a particularly hard day and I enforced more rigid consequences (there were many warnings that defined the behaviour that needed to stop and the consequence that would follow if the behaviour continued) he ...received his last warning and then continued with the behaviour so I enforced the consequence which caused lots of alligator tears. Once we reentered a window of tolerance where we could discuss the behaviour and understand the role they played, we rewarded the learning and had a good rest of our time together.
