Many engaged couples ask me... "When should we mail out our wedding invitations?" In truth, this can be different for everyone. Here are a few examples...... If you are having a wedding local to you and the majority of your guests will not be coming from overseas, then the standard 3 months out is perfect. If however, you have a number of out of town or overseas guests, you may want to tier your mailing dates. Giving those who have to travel, more advanced notice and saving the remainder for standard timing. Custom stationers like myself, can also stagger the RSVP dates. So if you get some declines you may have room and time to extend more invitations locally should you wish (think b list) If you are having a destination wedding, about a year out is great (if you can swing it!). This gives guests time to book holiday time through work, research, plan the trip, and financially save up if needed! Lastly, if your wedding falls on a holiday weekend or busy time of year, you may want to extend the mailing date to 4 months if you haven't already sent out a save-the-date card, which is highly recommended for weddings that fall on long weekends in the summer, thanksgiving etc. I hope this helps!
