Tammy Baker, Congratulations on your 20 years at IRIS! Tammy was part of the first group of licensed Opticians in BC when she completed her Optician program at NAIT, soon after joining London Optical in 1993. On her very first day there, her manager was busy when she arrived. A customer came in for an adjustment and I had no idea what to do. I was eager to impress so I gave it a try and I broke the temple tip off the frame! Thankfully, I kept it together, found another tip... in the drawer and fixed the glasses. The customer was happy and my boss never knew what happened! (Well, they might know now!) She had laser surgery 12 years ago but still owns and wears many pairs of glasses! A real addiction. When asked how her family would describe her in 3 words, she answered: Strong, smart, sarcastic (maybe loud but that would be 4 words). She loves to go on daily walks and loves helping people and having the opportunity to take on new challenges and step into different roles. The culture is absolutely the best part of IRIS. These people are truly like family to me.. We admire that she went back to school to get her undergrad degree in Child & Youth Care from VIU to better support her two sons with special needs. What a devoted mother! ’ !
