What is Irlen Syndrome??? Most people have never heard of it.... yet many people are suffering from it and don't realize that they can be helped! Symptoms include: * light sensitivity, ... * problems reading, especially words on bright white or high gloss materials or reading under fluorescent lights, * avoiding reading because it's exhausting, * reading slowly because the words are distorted or jumping around, * attention deficit, trouble concentrating, * strain and fatigue... * easily tired, exhausted after reading / studying, * poor depth perception, bumping into things a lot... * frequent headaches. This is no way to live your life! And it can easily be fixed with something as simple as using the patented Irlen colors in your glasses or contact lenses, and colored papers and overlays. Parents, if your child is suffering, please get them tested! It's heartbreaking for me to have adults come to me for screening and find out that they've had Irlen Syndrome their entire life and didn't need to suffer the way they have for so many years! They literally CRY when they experience the Irlen Method. Here's a very brief explanation to what Irlen Syndrome is. Irlen Syndrome is a visual perception problem that affects the way the brain processes visual information. There's a defect in one of the visual pathways that carries messages from the eye to the brain. This causes a timing default in processing visual information. Filtering out specific wavelengths of light helps the pathway to function normally. It is NOT an optical problem. Your eyes are working just fine! It is not an intellectual problem. Your brain is working just fine too. There's just a little glitch between your eyes and your brain. The brain is sensitive to specific wavelengths of light and the patented Irlen lenses and overlays filter out the offending light to make it easier to see and read. Please consider being tested. Have your child tested if they are trying SO hard in school and having difficulties, especially with reading and concentrating.
