The 12th running of Ironman 70.3 Calgary at Harmony will be held on Sunday August 1st, 2021. Our team have been working with local health authorities on planning a COVID-19 safe event. The exciting new course planned for 2020 will debut next August splashing out of Lake Harmony then traversing Rocky View County. When we postponed the IRONMAN 70.3 Calgary triathlon from its original date of July 26 to September 6, 2020, we felt confident we would still be able to deliver an exceptional event at the later date. Unfortunately, based on the updated mandate from the Owners Association of Harmony and further conversations with local authorities in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IRONMAN 70.3 Calgary triathlon cannot take place in 2020 and will return on July 18, 2021. In what has been a continually evolving and challenging time globally, we thank our athletes for their commitment and look forward to providing them with an exceptional race experience in the future.

We have been working with the province on staging Ironman 70.3 within their Covid-19 guidelines. We expect to announce more news about the race this week!

During this pandemic we all have concerns and questions about how a race can go forward. Our dedicated staff of 11 years and team of volunteers are working with local officials and Ironman on the logistics of managing a mass participation event with social distancing protocols. Multiple heats, zones limiting the number of participants, extended transition racks, rolling swim starts and restructuring the post-race festivities are some of the measures that will ensure we have... a safe race. We want to see all your hard work and training put to the test. We will still have the best volunteers out there helping you, guiding you and cheering you on. Even if they are wearing masks. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding while we have been developing options during this dynamic time. As you are aware, IRONMAN 70.3 Calgary cannot take place as originally planned for July 26, 2020, however, we are now able to share a new tentative race date scheduled for the first weekend of September 2020. As further event details are finalized with our various host city partners and authorities, we will share those with you. The province of Alberta has recently extended their cancellation of mass-participant events through August. Our team is working on rescheduling Ironman 70.3 Calgary into September. We will communicate everyone's race options in the next week or so.

We are on track for a record year! Registration will pass 2019 numbers in less than two weeks and only 18% of our 2020 field raced last year! We expect a big surge of returning racers this spring and will do our best to accommodate the demand.

We're excited to announce Harmony Lake will be our new home venue for IRONMAN 70.3 Calgary. Our course returns to Cowboy Country with breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains. Free cycling/triathlon clinic on May 25, 9:00am at Granary Road market just south of Spuce Meadows. Certified coaches guide groups and offer Q&A for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Bring a friend and hang with the family in the park after your ride/run.

Great news! Registration will open December 15th for the 11th running of Ironman 70.3 Calgary. Next year's race will be held on Sunday, August 11th at Auburn Bay in Calgary. Special thanks to the Lake Chaparral Multisport Weekend, who have revised their race date to July 26-28. The date change will allow for Ironman 70.3 Calgary participants to use the Lake Chaparral Triathlon (5km run, open water swim, olympic, sprint or Tri it distances) as a final tune-up before their big event! ICYMI - Important news: change in swim course for 2018. We will be doing a two lap swim of Auburn Bay instead of one (as the course has been in the past). This will allow for many things including safety for our swimmers and an excellent race experience. The swim is 1.9km in distance and swimmers will run to the parking lot for transition.

http://www.ironman.com//calgary%20ironman%2070%203%20swim% Due to the size of Auburn Bay, in past years we have had difficulty in reaching the required 1.9 km (1.2 Mile) swim course distance. This has led to a confusing, circuitous single lap swim course. This year we have decided to implement a two-lap simple, triangular swim course. Some of the benefits of this approach are: - more direct, easier for sighting... - exact distance and ability to place evenly spaced intermediate buoys - more spectator friendly - easier to access distressed swimmer - faster access/egress in event of an emergency Two red Ironman 70.3 Calgary buoys were placed in Auburn Bay where the large orange buoys will be placed on race day. This was done to provide a practice swim course so athletes can get their bearings, select suitable line-of-sight markers and practice siting for race day. Please see the map for more information (note map is not exact scale).

EnduraHEALTH is Ironman 70.3 Calgary’s official massage provider. Registered participants can get 10% off of all massage services at the Expo leading up to the race and for two weeks afterwards. Simply provide proof of your registration - on your phone is fine. Endurahealth will be onsite to provide post-race massage service.

Did you know you can head to our swim venue Auburn House (Auburn Bay) for a practice swim before our race? Bring ID to check in and have a chance to swim and check out our 2018 race course. Note: there is no swimming on Saturday, July 21st as the community is closed for a private event.
