It is the last day of classes tomorrow so we wanted to wish a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all of our students and families! We have been so impressed by how you have tackled online learning these last three weeks. We will see you back online January 6-8. Then (*fingers crossed!*) back in person on January 11th!

Last day to bring in food bank donations to the school TOMORROW! Don't forget to grab those non-perishable food items and bring them in. Thank you to everyone who has donated!

This season can be tough for many, so if you have non-perishable food items to spare, please send them with your child this week for our food drive. Also, don't forget to wear mismatched socks on Thursday in support of Anti-Bullying Awareness week. Remember teachers and staff are also on the lookout for students showing kindness and lending a hand for our "Caught YA" draws. Students could win gift cards to Blackfalds A & W if their name is drawn.

November 16 to 20 is Bullying Awareness Week in Alberta. At Wolf Creek Public Schools our theme for the week is Courage, Compassion and Connection. Just a friendly reminder that IRJC is holding a socially distanced Parent Council meeting tonight from 5PM -6PM in the library. All COVID 19 protocol will be in place - please ensure that you wear a mask.

IRJC held multiple Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Abbey Centre cenotaph today. Some students had jobs like readings, candle lighting, and laying of the wreaths. Thank you to Miss Townsend and Miss Uloth for running the ceremony, Mr. Berdan for playing the Last Post on the trumpet, and to Cst. Hewitt for joining us. We hope you take some time to remember this November 11th. There is no school next week, we will see you on Nov. 16th!

Tomorrow our school is holding Remembrance Day ceremonies for class cohorts throughout the day. Please ensure your child is dressed for warm weather to go over to the Abbey Centre cenotaph during their ceremony time. The school will also provide your child with a poppy and will be collecting money for the legion if you would like to send a monetary donation.

What a great start to the school year! We are so happy to have students back in the building and are pleased with how they have adapted to the new protocols that have been put in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic. One request that we have is to please ensure that your child is bringing their mask from home each day. We are staggering our start this year to go through all the safety procedures with smaller student groups before all the students come next Friday. - Tuesday, September 1: Grade 7 only... - Wednesday, September 2: Grade 8 only - Thursday, September 3: Grade 9 only - Friday, September 4: All students **** On the grade 7, 8 and 9 orientation days, all students will enter through the main doors. Summer time 2020! We hope you all get some time to relax and recharge after the last 3 months of added stress. We appreciate all of our students and parents so much for their resiliency of tackling online learning. The announcement around schools is scheduled from the government on August 1st, so you will be hearing from us soon after. We cannot wait to see everyone again September 1st!

Do you have a green thumb? Have you run out of room in your own backyard? IRJC is hoping to find community members who would like to adopt our front and back gardens. Usually ECO club students would spend the spring shaping the front hedges and pruning the bushes, as well as planting the back gardens by our playground. Without these dedicated students, our green spaces are looking a little sad, and were throwing it out there to see if there are community members who would li...ke to fix them up! As Im sure you know, its an IRJC tradition to celebrate all of you, make a fool of ourselves, and send you on your way to high school in a big swanky get-together called Farewell.... Grade 9 Farewell has been a long standing tradition, and were not going to let a little global pandemic stop us from celebrating you its just going to look a little different, and the get-together will occur a little later than usual. What we need from you is photos, videos, and memories of you and your classmates from kindergarten to grade 9. Field trip photos? Aww yeah! Class crafts or projects? Send them our way! Today was our EAs last day for this school year. Theyve been doing incredibly important work with our students online. Running Google Meets with those who need more one-on-one help to complete their work, or who need emotional check ins. Community Share: Big Brothers Big Sisters Lacombe Tim Hortons is hosting the BIG Heart Challenge! Make a cardboard heart with positive messages and stake it on your lawn. For 100 s in Lacombe & Blackfalds Tim Hortons they will donate 20 free meals to our Hot Lunch Porch Program for our BBBS families!! Be creative, have fun & lets fill their lawn!! We have been contacted by Blackfalds FCSS regarding their Lunch Box Program and are excited to let you know that, due to tremendous support from the business community, they are able to expand the program! FCSS is now able to provide families with some excellent breakfast ingredients to set them up for a week of breakfasts, as well as their ready-made lunches (which are available twice a week). They plan to offer a once weekly package of breakfast supplies each Tuesday when families come for their lunch box. There is no eligibility criteria set out, so anyone in Blackfalds is able to access this program. To get signed up, simply call them at 403-600-9066 or email [email protected]

This Easter Sunday one of our IRJC students houses was devastatingly burned to the ground in Blackfalds. Yesterday during class time, our incredible students and his classmates wanted to know what they could do to help. Classwork starts today on your childs Google classroom. Please get logged in and check it out with them. Course outlines were put up on Classroom with these schedules. These are the times when your childs teacher will be at their computer to answer questions or do a Google meet if needed. There are also "office hours" at the end of the day. Here are the school schedules and the 7, 8, and 9 individual schedules. If your child doesnt have a scheduled class time, have them check out the PE and wellness activities!

Hello IRJC families! We hope you had a great spring break. Yesterday teachers electronically held a staff meeting- heres an awesome group shot! We wanted to honour everyones spring break and keep it as a "break", so were making contact Mon-Wed this week to ensure everyone (some 280 students! Plus their parents) are good to go with technology, getting our emails, and getting set up, then Thursday and Friday will be set days for you to login to Google Classroom and do work.... Yesterday teachers contacted homeroom classes to ask about technology in the house. Please make sure youve let your childs teacher know if there is no computer in your household.
