The Anishnawbe Health Toronto along side the Gardiner Museum celebrated 25yrs of supporting the needs of aboriginal health through their annual charity event Empty Bowl. It was a wonderful evening! Attendees lined up for the opening where upon arrival they entered a small room filled with pottery. Each person picked their soup bowl for the night - which they later took home with them after the fundraiser. The soups were made by prominent chefs from around the city includ...ing Terroni, George, The Healthy Butcher, AGO Bistro, El Catrin, Food Dudes just to name a few! Everything was delicious and the bowls were gorgeous! What a great event! Originally started by Jamie Kennedy the event this year included 400 bowls donated by potters, potter’s guilds, and students and delicious soups are prepared and ladled out by some of Ontario’s most eminent chefs. The Dish or sometimes it is called the Bowl represents what is now southern Ontario. We all eat out of the Dish all of us that share this territory with only one spoon. That means we have to share the responsibility of ensuring the dish is never empty; which includes, taking care of the land and the creatures we share it with. Importantly, there are no knives at the table, representing that we must keep the peace. -- An excerpt from the Ryerson University website:
