On January 12, 2021 Ontario declared a second provincial emergency as a result of high COVID-19 transmission rates in the province. The government has also issued a stay-at-home order requiring everyone to remain at home with exceptions for essential purposes. As an essential service we will continue to provide professional services to the community which support the legal and judicial system. However, while we remain open to serve our clients, we will be adhering to strict... Covid protocols to ensure the health and safety of our clients and our staff. Accordingly, we will be providing services almost exclusively by phone and via tele-conferencing for as long as these public health directives remain in place. In-person meetings will be strictly limited and in all cases conducted with safety measures in place. Our office will be minimally staffed, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, to take your calls. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the lawyers and staff at Irvine Lester & Low! 2020 has been described as unprecedented, awful, heartbreaking, exhausting and disappointing. It certainly was all of those things, as many traditional gatherings, rituals, vacations and milestones couldn’t happen as we had planned. But at this time of the year when we celebrate hope, and with the prospect of a better 2021 on the horizon, we want to remember that 2020 was also a year of ne...w technologies, ingenuity & innovation, bravery, a year to be grateful for small things and for our frontline workers (from grocery store clerks to ER nurses and doctors). 2020 also gave the opportunity to reflect on and recognize ourselves as seekers on the long road to equality and justice. It was a year where we worried less about our hair and more about keeping our neighbours safe and their spirits up. We say ‘Cheers’ to all of that! At Irvine Lester & Low, like so many of you, we focused on serving our clients in the safest ways possible, often with unforeseen bumps and challenges. You, our clients and colleagues, have shown so much grace under pressure this year and we thank you for that. We wanted to send you a Christmas treat one that was appropriate for the kind of year we have lived. And so, this year, we decided to double our support of local organizations such as the La Jeunesse Youth Choirs, in your honour. La Jeunesse Youth Choirs, like so many other organizations, are what make Northumberland a wonderful place to live and raise a family. They have prepared a special link for us to share with you - 3 songs performed by the choir, virtually, after March, when we all went into lockdown and singing together suddenly became a bad idea. The ingenuity shown by the youth and their leaders to keep these kids engaged in music is an example of what was good in 2020. During the COVID-19 situation, we will be modifying how we service our clients. Concern for the safety of our staff and community is paramount.
