Without words, 6-year-old Sophia expresses her joy when surrounded by music. As a baby, Sophia, of Windsor, VT, was diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy a lack of blood and oxygen to her brain, resulting in significant developmental delays, visual impairment, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. Sophia is non-verbal but loves music and spending time outdoors with her family. Community spirit shines bright in rural PEI. When the global pandemic changed high school graduation celebrations last spring, Ramona Roberts of Big Dog Convenience in Kinkora, PEI, stepped up to help celebrate local grads. We watched those kids grow up. We wanted to help recognize their achievements, she says.... Ramona and her team collected photos of the local Class of 2020, proudly displaying them in the store. In the tight-knit community, every customer knew at least one student on the wall. Not all heroes wear capes. Every time brothers Dane and Pete of Charlottetown, PEI, see an Irving Energy truck, they think it might be Donnie Myers, a Professional Driver who delivered propane to their cottage this summer. The pair are so enthralled with Donnie, we sent them a few surprises that just happened to arrive in time for their October birthdays.... To them, Donnie is the real hero, says their father Jon. Nés prématurément à 29 semaines, Jacob et sa sœur jumelle, Zoé, de Québec, ont commencé leur vie tout petits. Tandis que Zoé s’est développée normalement, Jacob pesant 2 lb, 5 oz à la naissance a reçu un diagnostic d’atrésie biliaire congénitale, maladie rare qui a entraîné une cirrhose de son foie et l’ostéoporose. Jacob et sa famille doivent se déplacer souvent pour des rendez-vous médicaux au CHU de Québec-Université Laval à Québec. C’est pourquoi le programme Faites ...le plein d’amour les a soulagés d’un poids. Toutes les petites choses s’accumulent , affirme Véronique, mère de Jacob et de Zoé. Ça fait vraiment une différence pour nous. Maintenant âgés de deux ans et demi, les jumeaux adorent danser et jouer dehors. La maladie de Jacob ne les arrête pas.
