Welcome to October!! Did someone hijack Sept? Where did it go? This is harvest month in much of Canada before the really cold season comes. And this coming Monday is our Thanksgiving special. At ISC, we always celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving one week before the actual date (Oct. 12) because our church is always closed on the long holiday weekends on the Monday. Every year, our Thanksgiving night is usually our biggest event of the year with 70 plus students and friends atte...nding our big Turkey dinner and special program. But thanks to our nasty "friend" Covid, we are not allowed to share food this year. Oh how I'll miss the big dinner with Kevin's famous stuffing in the Turkey and all the trimmings and dessert! BUT!! We still must celebrate and be thankful because our God has given us so much. So, we want you to all come, bring your friends and let's give thanks for all the blessings we enjoy today in our country. Our entire program will be focused on the thanksgiving theme including Conversation Club, our Bible discussion part and of course, the beautiful thanksgiving songs that we'll sing together! No stupid virus will stop grateful hearts. We will give you a chance to express thanksgiving in some way and share what you're thankful for in a very strange and difficult year! The Bible tells us to "enter His (God's) gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with Praise!!" We look forward to doing that with you on Monday night! Happy thanksgiving everyone!

We are now officially into the Fall season and our Autumn sessions at ISC. We know many of our students have gone back to their home countries and some of you are not getting out much. We hope you will venture out on a Monday evening to join us as we connect again for times of discussions, practicing your English skills and inspirational talks and singing together. ISC has always been a great place for international students over the years to connect and make new life-long f...riends and to also feed into the spiritual part of your soul. During these times of uncertainly, we all need positive encouragement and reinforcement. Come and let us help you with that and receive what God might have for you to start a new week. Come join us for our Autumn ISC session in our usual room in the lower auditorium of Broadway Church (2700 E. Broadway at Slocan St. Enter from the side door). We had a nice 1st week back meeting last Monday with lots of open discussion and singing. During this Covid season, there will be no food allowed but you can bring your own drinks. And we won't have the use of the gym. Max allowed in the room for social distancing is about 35 people with our band setup. So, please c...ome early on time if you want to get in because once we hit our limit, we can't let you in the door. Sorry. The world has changed too much with this Covid issue. You'll have to check in at the door first and fill out a quick form. Let's keep going strong into a great Autumn session to continue learning, growing and meeting together as the Bible encourages us to do! But we do want you all to come! We would miss you if you didn't show up! We've had a great summer session outdoors in the park so let's continue on with a great Autumn session to continue learning, growing and meeting together as the Bible encourages us to do. And we can also now sing!! Doors will open at 5:30 pm for our 6 pm start. Since no food is allowed inside, please eat before or after ISC. Let's see how this first week goes with this new setup and restrictions and we can tweak things along the way as needed. It's Aug. 31st! Can you believe it? What happened to our Covid summer? Better come out and catch the last few weeks of summer as we enjoy ISC outdoors at Beaconsfield Park. 6 pm - Picnic in the Park. Bring your own dinner 7 pm - Meet and Greet / Conversation Club - speak up and practice your English 7:20 pm - Group Competition Game - Guess the top 3 answers of questions given to each group. What will they say? Fun and Hilarious game! 8 pm - Devotional time - The Heavens a...nd Stars speak His name. The 3 Papis will be sharing about stars and life in a far off land! 8:30 pm - Closing prayers Come say goodbye and bless the original Papi Carlos as he leaves us and moves to Montreal to meet french speaking people. Come on out to ISC outdoors before the Autumn season comes and we have to move back indoors. We hope to see you tomorrow night (Mon. Aug. 24) at Beaconsfield Park at 3215 Slocan st. with our regular ISC meeting starting at 6 pm with bring your own picnic dinner and 7 pm with the program. And bring a light jacket or sweater as it can get cool in the park when the sun sets. Tomorrow night, a couple of our guys will be leaving us so come say goodbye to Raido (going back to Japan) and Ebby (going to Germany for a month to get married!). It's always a great way to start a new week so come and join us for a great time of connecting with leaders and international students from all around the world!
