Hare Krishna! Festival of Govardhana Puja!, Today On Sunday, 15th November.... The celebration will be observed with an Arati and the offering of a mountain of food to the Lord. Devotees will construct a replica of Govardhana Hill decorated with many wonderful food items. Then the hill of food will be offered to Lord Krishna, the lifter of Govardhana Hill. Happy Gopastami! It is stated in the _Krttika-mhtmya_ section of the Padma Pur: _uklam krttike tu_... _smt gopam budhai_ _tad-dind vsudevo 'bhd_ _gopa prva tu vatsapa_ "The eighth lunar day of the bright fortnight of the month of Krttik is known by authorities as Gopam. From that day, Lord Vsudev served as a cowherd, whereas previously He had tended the calves." Krishna practically demonstrated how to protect the cows. At least people who are in Krishna consciousness should follow in His footsteps and give all protection to the cows. Cows are worshiped not only by the demigods. Krishna Himself worshiped the cows on several occasions, especially on the days of Gopastami and Govardhan-puja. Today on Gopastami, the day when Lord Krishna came of age to take out the cows, we remember the sweet pastimes of the Lord caring for the cows and reflect on how we too can serve them. HG Brahma Tirtha Prabhu is a senior disciple of Srila Prabhupada. He had an inner longing to understand God even as a student. Upon his graduation in chemistry, he opted to go to India as a Peace Corps volunteer in early nineteen seventies. There he met with ISKCON devotees and through them he met with Srila Prabhupada. Because of his eagerness to learn, Brahma Tirtha Prabhu as a sincere and humble student posed many questions for which Srila Prabhupada gave answers primarily based on the Bhagavad Gita. These conversations were compiled into a book titled Perfect Questions, Perfect Answers.

Hare Krishna Happy Vijayadashami! Vijaya Dashami marks the victory of divine power over demoniac forces.... It was on this day that Lord Rama killed the ten-headed Ravana, who had abducted His wife Sitadevi. This day is also known as Dashara in this connection. The word Dashara is derived from two Sanskrit words dasha (ten) and hara (defeat). People celebrate this victory of righteousness over evil by burning the effigies of Ravana, his brother Kumbhakarna and son Meghanada. The festival also starts the preparations for Diwali, Govardhan Puja the festival of lights which is celebrated twenty days after Vijayadashami. Sri Rama Chandra Bhagwan ki Jay!
