Have you known that feeling of satisfaction and relief when getting really good results on an exam you were really worried about, or a paper you worked long and hard on? Imagine you were getting results for all the hard work you did from the Lord of All Beings, knowing that He was pleased with you. That must be a relief after which no worries will be left behind. May Allah make our faces among those! [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. With their effort [they are] sa...tisfied In an elevated garden, Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. [Surah Al-Ghashiyah: 8-11] #faces #effort #reward #HolyQuran #gratitude #reminders #guidance

Ramadan is a good time to reflect on the power of our Lord, tabaraka wa ta’ala. For the desperate and the hopeful in what the Creator has in store, it pays to realize the connection between Allah’s Mercy and His Might. He is the One that hears the saddest, quietest pleas, encompassing of your troubles and gentle with your pain. And He is the All-Powerful, Capable of all, and can remove all the obstacles and struggles you feel are impossible to uplift. Have hope, and never ret...reat from your supplications, for He brings the sweetest ease after the most bitter hardship... And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate, Honorable Owner of the Throne, Effecter of what He intends. [Surah Al-Buruj: 14-16] #HolyQuran #mercy #SurahAlBuruj #Ramadan #love #ease #hardship #verses

Many people in the community are under the impression that Islam Care is a mere prayer space for workers in downtown Ottawa. Islam Care is far more than that. We are the only option for many low-income communities that live in downtown due to the close proximity to public services. Pre-covid and during covid Islam Care has been running at capacity offering prayer services, hot meals for the needy, and urgent social services to Muslim families, as well as spiritual support for inmates in correctional facilities. During this Ramadan, Islamic Relief Canada has graciously offered us to match every $2 worth of donations with a dollar of their own. So if you donate $20 you will get the Ajer for $30 inshAllah! Not a bad bargain. Please take advantage of this holy month and donate generously!

Remember that the point of fasting is to obtain Allah’s pleasure in obedience to him and to discipline the soul into harmony with the Creator’s Will, so Ramadan is an opportunity to learn to hone good character by watching our words, in order to ensure that Allah accepts our fasts inshaa Allah... Abu Huraira related that the Prophet said: If a person does not avoid false talk and false conduct during fasting, then Allah does not care if he abstains from food and drink. ... Here's a tip about staying away from Haraam: Haraam is harmful. Whether we know the harm in the bad things we do or not, it's there. It's a main idea in Islamic laws that harmful things are not allowed. A lot of doing good and staying away from bad has to do with your relationship with Allah. If you truly think that Allah is your Lord and knows best for you, then you will obey Him.... If you do not believe that Allah knows best, or that Islam is a religion for all times and places, then you may find it easier to do bad things. Spend some time today to consider haraam acts, and list the harm they cause.

Grief is described as love with nowhere else to go. Do you feel like that sometimes, thinking about what's been lost? Read this beautiful poem by Yamin Mogahed, and may Allah relieve your grief in this life and the next. http://www.yasminmogahed.com/2012/11/21/i-grieve/

All of the best dawah advice is in this ayah, right here: "Invite all to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and kind advice, and only debate with them in the best manner. Surely your Lord alone knows best who has strayed from His Way and who is rightly guided." (16:125)

Here's the key to success in life: "And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it)..." Surah Al Hashr, ayah 7 It's very simple: Allah sent Prophet Muhammad to show us how to live. So we try our best to do what he said, and stay away from what he told us to stay away from, and we will be successful.

Just a slight change in mentality can help you make things easy for yourself. Some people think that practicing Islam is hard. All the rules and restrictions lead people to think that life as a Muslim is not ideal. When you know that the rules and regulations are there to actually make your life easier, and you trust Allah is not trying to make your way to Him difficult, it is easy to see.... Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, Verily, the religion is easy and no one burdens himself in religion but that it overwhelms him. Follow the right course, seek closeness to Allah, give glad tidings, and seek help for worship in the morning and evening and a part of the night. Source: a al-Bukhr 39

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un From God we come and to God we return. As President of Islam Care Centre of Ottawa and a member of the Muslim community, I would like to express my heartfelt solidarity and deepest condolences to the people of New Zealand and the community of Christchurch reeling from the horrendous terrorist attack by a white supremacist extremist today. We pray for the worshippers killed at both Masjid al-Noor and Linwood Masjid. May God have mercy on th...em and ease the pain of this brutal tragedy on their families and loved ones. At Islam Care Centre we have a strong decades-long tradition of interfaith collaboration, intercultural understanding, and community and social service. We are deeply disturbed by recent Islamophobic, anti-Semitic, and anti-Black violence that has targeted places of worship in Canada and beyond, whether at the mosque in Quebec City, the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, or this horrific massacre in New Zealand. As we have said before, we must stand together against hatred and bigotry. We must also acknowledge the role that hatred plays in 'othering' minorities. We encourage members of the media, government institutions, or communities of other faiths to reach out to us so that we can continue to build bridges of understanding together. It is time to cease giving any fuel to this violence by perpetuating myths, fears, or stereotypes. At ICC we promote an open door policy at our spaces. We will not let fear bow us in our continued service to the brotherhood and sisterhood of humanity. A note to our community members: please do not watch or share the video footage of this terrible tragedy. It is not a spectacle and it is the wish of the perpetrators of this terrible act to have it seen by the world. Do not re-traumatise yourselves by granting them this wish. We condemn in the strongest terms all forms of intolerance and violence, and ask God Almighty to forgive, bless, and have mercy on those who perished in Christchurch today. Peace be with you all, Qamar Masood, President, on behalf of the board of Islam Care Centre

STATEMENT ON TERRORISM IN NOVA SCOTIA Islam Care Centre and the Muslim community of downtown Ottawa mourns with all our sisters, brothers, and fellow citizens in Nova Scotia today who are reeling from this senseless act of terror and brutality. We aspire to a society where gun violence is no longer. We condemn in the strongest terms this man and those like him who use weapons against their fellow human beings. We offer our deepest and loving condolences to all the families of the souls who perished in this horrific attack. We are with you from coast to coast. We ask the Creator to enfold all these families in his love and compassion during the most difficult times of their lives.
