The first month of 2021 begins next week. There are some really cool items going into the Art Packs for those creative souls who have signed up my for Art At Home subscription service. Each week is a new project or Art Pack with materials and instructions, plus ooodles of information, conversation, videos, photos and connection on the Private Facebook Group as well as a Zoom class, a Gift Certificate prize draw for Iron Oxide Art supplies and afew other surprises! I’m getting EXCITED about the New Art at Home Subscription Service ( see previous post). I’m so filled with project ideas, and gathering materials for each participant’s weekly Art pack as well as writing up the project instructions for you to create at home! We start January 4th. If you live in Nanaimo- you pick up your project packet with materials and instructions each week outside my studio on a specified day. As we go along, you will be creating an Art supply kit for you...rself - both from the supplies and tools I provide each week and from the combination of your own tools/materials at home, we will be learning different techniques/approaches as well as a little about other Artists and their creations while you create your own art in the comfort of your own home! Participants will receive emailed invitations and be members of a private FB Group where I will post videos and show you my ideas, creations and tips and you can share your results/projects, ask questions or make comments! New things are happening at the studio! During a pandemic, leave it to creative people to - well, get creative. First, I am happy to announce the Island Girl Art Studio's Art at Home Subscription Service..... What is that ? Let me explain. Since we can't meet in person, but we are all dying to get creative and get back into our artistic endeavors but we can't join an in-person class just yet, what do you do? Online is cool, but sometimes we need a nudge, a little inspi...ration along the way, someone to draw us a road map, so to speak and that's where my Art At Home subscription series comes in. Each week, for 4 weeks - you will receive an Art pack of supplies, materials, instructions and sparks of inspiration ( tips, techniques, maybe information about a famous artist /art history or notes from my studio practice ) inside your packet. This can be picked up outside my studio in Nanaimo, or, if you're not close by or its just more convenient, it can be mailed out to you for an extra $ 5.00. Please note there will be a deadline for this. * Each week, I will email each participant project instructions, inspiration and ideas as well as a list of any additional supplies you might choose to use or need to complete that project. I will also post my version or finished project for that week on my Island Girl Art Studio Facebook page. Then, it's all YOU! Let's see what awesome Art you make! Experiment, have some fun, break free ...or, you might want to re-create the finished product I made ? Anything goes! But one thing is for sure, you'll be making Art again! Acrylic Painting adventures in the Wednesday night class. We’re painting outside the studio due to COVID-19, but that makes this big, beautiful, juicy project possible. The first image shows Jen’s Monet- abstract inspiration. We begin with numerous colours of paint right onto the canvas, use an old credit card to spread layers to f paint left to right, then while it’s wet, we add white to the middle, grab a big brush and blend! Just like that the background or first layer on a done. The water lillies come next! Glorious!!!

I have afew very small classes running at the moment- Watercolor( afternoon ) and Acrylics on Wednesday night as well as afew One Day Art Workshops on Saturdays( watch for new dates to be announced). Keep watch here and on the website. But these talented, dedicated ladies inspire ME every week. We set up outside the studio and class sizes are cut in half to align with COVID recommendations. We are learning to paint water, light, and this beautiful west coast life... here is the beginning of a series of projects on boats, sky and water....
