Story time; - I recently stopped studying for massage therapy. I was getting bored of the curriculum and how the material was integrated with massage therapy. Also, I was fighting nerve pain in my left hand and sharp pains in my right elbow. - When I enrolled into massage school I believe I rushed my decision. I was just coming off of burn out from training too many clients; and made a decision that was not thought out. In the end, I resented the program, because massage ...therapy was not something I could continue long term. - pros of massage school; met some of the most diverse group of individuals and made some friendships that will last a lifetime. Also, gained an incredible amount of knowledge which will transfer to training clients more effectively. - I had an X-Ray done on my right elbow and unfortunately have a couple of bone chips floating around causing grief. My doctor told me because of compression from the massage strokes; combined with the shearing force is the cause for the pain. Also, I had a long baseball career which was probably the main cause to the deterioration to the elbow. Luckily, I am still able to do almost all training movements because they do not put sustained compression+shearing forces on the elbow. - What I’ve learned is that I am Island Athletics, and Island Athletics is fitness.
