My name is Keisha and I'm the Founder of Island Divas and Co-Owner of K&S Island Grill. This space was created as a medium to Inspire, Empower and highlight the stories behind our Island Divas who are utilizing their God-given talents to affect their communities positively. In this community, we have a network of champions and world-changers who amidst challenges broke barriers to accomplish and activate their visions. ... A few facts about me: I was born in Jamaica and migrated to Canada in 2009, to enhance my studies. I later graduated with a Red Seal Certification in Culinary Arts and Diploma (Hon) in Accounting and Payroll Administration. Growing up in Jamaica I had to 'learn' how to do from a tender age. I would have to go to the market and sell products with my mother for us to go to school or to provide the daily basics of life. This venture, however, I was ashamed of and would normally hide when I see my peers or teachers in fear of being judged. This fact coupled with the negative criticisms I faced, has caused me to develop positive self-talk and use affirmations to overcome. I now accept and embrace that the process was necessary for my destination. I am married with 4 incredible children who inspire me daily to push those boundaries even further.
