No matter how your baby is born, there’s a moment where you must draw on all the courage you have, and with that courage there is also a surrendering. It is this dance of both surrender and courage which lines the path to parenthood. This is not changed by a birth with intervention; all birth takes courage. The cesarean rate in British Columbia is around 35%. A cesarean is a reality for many parents, if you are pregnant it might be yours too. When thinking about your birth ...it’s important to consider a cesarean, to understand how they are performed, how it might feel and how long you might expect to be in hospital afterwards. Recovery and adjustment to parenthood can be different following a cesarean birth and knowing this ahead of time is important.
