Dear Patient We have received FLU SHOTS today from Public Health. This year, we can give them out in the office as before. Anyone can call us for a flu shot to be given in the office. We have STERILIZED ROOMS that we are keeping open for anyone who calls for just a flu shot. Also, you can get the flu shot as a part of any office visit to us.... !!WHAT IS NEW THIS YEAR is that we are having TWO DRIVE THROUGH FLU SHOT CLINICS !! for people who would prefer to receive the flu shot in this venue..This is probably the SAFEST WAY to receive the flu shot. . The first drive through clinic is this SATURDAY- OCTOBER 17,2020 from 9am until noon. Just drive into the parking lot(we will have staff to direct you) where you complete a very short questionnaire.Following this, you simply drive to the building entrance to our office(Health Park),where we will give your flu shot to you. The entrance to the building is protected by a carport. WE WILL VACCINATE YOU WHILE YOUR ARM IS OUTSIDE YOUR CAR WINDOW. Children can sit in their caregiver's lap while they put their arm(or leg in infants) in a position for us to vaccinate them. After your flu shot, we ask you to park in the parking lot for 15 minutes as a precaution. No appointment needed. We will give flu shots to any of Dr.Hubrecht's patients( in addition to patients of Dr Susan MacLeod and Dr Steven MacDougall) if they would like. PLEASE WEAR A MASK, WEAR A T-SHIRT and bring a pencil or pen with you . Thank you for letting us look after you Island Family Health Care

Dear Valued Patient We will soon be giving flu shots as they become available from Public Health and we strongly encourage you to receive the flu shot, especially this year.... We prefer to give the flu shots through our office rather than patients to receive them elsewhere. For instance, often we like to counsel the person at the same time regarding recommendations for other vaccinations. During flu shot season, we often give the pneumonia vaccination concomitantly when it is appropriate. .THIS YEAR WE WILL BE HAVING TWO OUTDOOR DRIVE-THROUGH FLU CLINICS. The vaccines will be given under the carport at the main entrance to our office at Health Park. WE FEEL THAT THIS IS THE SAFEST VENUE FOR PATIENTS TO BE RECEIVING A VACCINATION. At the outdoor immunization clinic, the patients will drive-through and can receive the vaccination while they are still in their vehicle. We plan to have the vaccination clinics on Saturdays. We will announce the exact days of the clinics when we know when we are getting the vaccination supplies from Public Health. Patients can receive their flu shot either at the outdoor clinic or in the office as usual. The indoor vaccination is probably better if the person would like additional vaccination counselling and to receive the other vaccinations that are appropriate for them. IslandFamilyHealthCare

Dear Valued Patient We are seeing an increased number of patients in the office and we are taking precautions to minimize any spread of Covid. To that end, some of our policies include; 1/Patients are required to wear masks(non medical is fine),as are all health care providers. The mask must be worn at all times while in the office. It is important that both the nose and mouth are covered. 2/Patients ,generally, have to come to the office by themselves.Of course, there are obv...ious exceptions to this. 3/We supply hand sanitizer during entrance to the office. 4/Sorry, NO WALK-INS. 5/We cannot have patients waiting in the waiting room and, therefore, visits will have to be kept within the allotted visit time. 6/Patients with fever, cough or other symptoms of infection must be screened by the doctor or nurse before coming to the office. They would probably be called by their health care provider and specific arrangements to be seen would be made 7/Do not come any earlier than 5 minutes prior to your booked visit.Do not come late. 8/If you book online for an in office visit, make sure the staff have screened you before you come in. We are still doing phone calls whenever the patient wishes, in lieu of an office visit, whenever it is appropriate. We probably still have several more months, at least ,of significant risk and we will monitor the situation. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to arrange a virtual or in office assessment.
