We are back! It’s been so good to see so many familiar faces already! it’s winter Sale time!! Our winter clothing is on sale for 40% off! Aaaand our change room is back open....conditionally....the island numbers have never been higher and so we are insisting on masks being worn the whole time in the change room, this was getting to be quite an issue before...we know it’s not ideal, for us either, but neither is risking people’s health. So please only come in if you are... well and keep your mask on and please limit the items you take in to ones you are very interested in. Thank you for helping us do our part at protecting our community. We have a lot Of amazing pieces left in various sizes. Valentines is also coming up and we have lot of treats for your galentine and valentines! Thank you again for all the support in 2020 and helping us have an amazing Christmas season despite the challenges we have all faced the last year! You are seriously the best community to be a part of . . . . #vancouverisland #nanaimo #sale See more

Oh my goodness, I had heard that this was a possibility, but didn't know they had gone ahead! Going to be interesting, I hope I have the courage to at least go and try it.... the views will be incredible and there's even going to be a slide to get down if you don't want to walk! Oh my nephews are going to love this....

Well, 2021 is here. Popped up to Sugarloaf last night when the rain stopped as it’s becoming a tradition on January 1st. Our city took my breath away. But what I realized is what makes it truly beautiful is all of you. You all make it the best place to live, work, play. Everyday we hear stories of people taking care of each other in inspiring ways...no matter what 2021 holds let’s go into it with hope, realizing we are so blessed and to continue to be patient and kind to each other to keep making Nanaimo beautiful.

I love that Top 9 is kind of like a mini time capsule of our year that resonated for The Royal You....I also love that it has a way of looking beautiful! Sure, it captures the day we could barely breathe after listening to the prime minister on our POS iPad and closed for...what...maybe 2 weeks...to flatten the curve?... And masks...and a day we made an instastory where we almost cried...but it also captures two of our favourite visitors....from Santa of course but top...ped that with the middle-of-a-pandemic-stinkin’-hot & masked-midsummer day when a turquoise Ice Cream truck randomly pulled up and we all got a fresh scoop of chip mint, including Bill from Bodhis and even the vet staff next door, and we all shared a gloriously blissful break in the fresh air and felt like kids for a brief moment, instead of biz owners that had made some of the toughest decisions of their lives...was it a mirage? Nope there’s photo evidence... I’m all in for remembering the ways we managed to pivot, the ways in our desperation for supplies we discovered we could sew and masks could be cute and way more comfortable...sanitizer could actually smell like a tropical holiday and not wreck your skin, communities can share hearts and support and can literally pull together to save lives and businesses at the same time when we are all willing to make small changes together ....but mainly LVE...for plants, whales, trees, joy and each other. It’s no surprise our top sales this year were gifts for others. In the spring, when we first started curbside pick up, Mother’s Day was the first thing that awoke our little biz again...got us posting, finding, wrapping, hanging a shower curtain to pass gifts onto the porch....then friend gifts, Ninja gifts, grads and birthdays....and finally Christmas...it literally brought us so so much joy to collect, post, pack and wrap these gifts for you all! 2020 has shown us We can do hard things and make them beautiful....we love you all...we love being Island-ish . . . ......yes we are still paused into January for our annual restore, regroup and refresh....it’s the way we stay Island-ish . . . . . . . #Islandish #topnine

Anyone else feeling ready for a snow day? I probably sound like an islander, as I know so many of our followers in Alberta and back east are like What is she talking about? But if we can’t go to Tofino on the weekend, we might as well get to play in some snow? . . . .... . #snowflakes #tofino #godspeed #play #diy #decor #cute #ucluelet #staysafe #vancouverisland #homedecor #white #frenchcountry #shabbychic #snow #snowday See more

We are soooo grateful for all the support this year and this blog is a perfect example of the local love going on for 2020! No shame shopping Amazon, Walmart, Costco too, we are all doing our best and those help the local economy too , but your local dollars do have major impact and we do indeed do many a happy dance when a sale goes through. From $3.50-$350 we love each and every sale, just yesterday I was telling my husband I love the small sales. I love that people of any budget can feel welcome and that they can find something cute in every price range. Thank you Jessica of the White Picket Farmhouse blog for sharing the love with so many of us and to all of you who support your locals!

Good morning everyone! I’m going to start with the good news! Coats and Dresses are 20% off this week! We have some very nice pieces from designers! With the sad news about the outbreak of Covid at NRGH and cases at two high schools we just want to strongly remind you all that masks and sanitizer are MANDATORY for entry into our shop. If you can’t/ or won’t wear one we have online shopping with curbside pick up available for you at Island-ish.com. (Also please do not remov...e your mask when trying on the clothing.) We also have paid several $100’s for disposable masks for those that don’t have one since we reopened and we have not passed those costs onto our products nor our customers. We would really appreciate if our store could be a place where everyone can feel safe browsing and have postivity directed towards our staff, who have been wearing masks all day for months so that we can be open safely and provide a fun place to shop and we would like to continue to do that. Thank you for your support and understanding. Lastly, photos of things that make me smile See more

I Just realized this is our 7th Island-ish Christmas season! The first one we ran out of my sisters family room We are feeling increasingly honoured to get to be a cheery part of the day for many....thank you to everyone who chooses to make us a part of your celebrations. We are ever so grateful! We continue our safety protocols we have had since we reopened this summer: space, masks, plexi, clean hands and respect. We are also open 24/7 on https://island-ish.com/ with curbside pick up or shipping available. A reminder that our change room is now closed for the season, we have a 7 day exchange return policy and 25% off all ladies winter clothing (including Rompers) to make up for that;) Let’s all find new ways to spark joy this weekend in safe and creative ways. We will get through this together!

For all the families who have sacrificed so much to protect our way of life and to fight against injustice. To those who serve, to their wives, husbands, children and friends. Thank you. I can’t say that I’ve listen to every single one of these updates, but I’ve heard today’s is a big important one, so it is a good one to tune into. I also find that listening to the questions and answers at the end of the update gives me a lot more information that I appreciate. And if you’re not free at three catch it later :-) Take care everyone
