Days don't get much better than this! Temp in the mid 20s, flat calm, Salmon bites, big prawns and some crab. Both boats had the same result, I'd say the boys held the fort down pretty good while I got to spend time....and help mommy....with Estelle for her birthday.

Chris and I took full advantage of this beauty day to go on a scout mission to find some salmon bites in more fishable water. It was a success, we found some water with the alge clearing and it lead to Salmon bites! We also got a Prawn spot with a majority large Prawns and found some quality male Crab. Happy New Year From all of us at Island Pursuit Sport Fishing, we hope you had a great Christmas, Happy New Year and thanks for your continued support in this crazy year. 2020 In Review... 2020 Started off great. Last year we were having a very busy Winter fishing season. Everyday having great success on Chinooks and the addition of our Prawn traps was making for bountiful experiences. This success was put on hold for the last half of Winter and start of peak season due to Covid. I didn't know what this season was going to bring if anything. Once travel restrictions eased I started damage control to try to get what I could and didn't have high hopes for the remainder of the season. That all changed in late July, with the nicer weather, eased travel restrictions and excellent fishing. Island Pursuit ended the Summer working as much and hard as we could. I'm proud to say because of your support we once again had our busiest season to date! We managed to schedule just over 300 charters this year. Not only did the number of Chinooks to the boat increase, the size this August was truly impressive. Lets hope we can have a repeat of the on water success in 2021. Looking forward 2021 Over December and into the New Year 2021 we will be in hibernation mode. We are having consistently poor weather, high Covid cases and strict travel restrictions resulting in poor business conditions. I will be leaving shortly for my yearly Geoduck Commercial fishing work for a month or two. We will be back in operation by March planning to operate at 100% by peak season in May and are open for bookings at anytime. Once we're operating we will follow all Covid health and safety guidelines as per our local health authority. If you hesitant booking due to the uncertainty of Covid, we have a booking policy that will be carried over for 2021.Canadians that books a trip for 2021 will be provided a credit for your deposit up to a week prior if Covid restrictions result in the interruption of your booking. Busy October! Island Pursuit kept very busy this October. With the start of our Winter program guests got to target Chinook salmon, Crab and Spot Prawns. Charters had great success, a few quality Winter Chinook keepers and lots of undersized salmon bites kept us very busy. Prawning started off slow for the first few drops, they weren't where we left them last Spring. Once I got dialed in Prawning has been very good! Crabbing has been hit or miss and should get better in the c...oming months. It has been really neat to see the wildlife especially Humpback whales that have been living and feeding in the straight. On the nice days we weren't booked for charters, we were booked fishing for research! We are very dedicated to the research and longevity of our resource. As many of you know we take DNA and stomach samples of many of our fish all year. On this project we fish for first year Chinook and Coho salmon. It involves taking measurements, DNA and inserting a tag before releasing the fish. We are doing this to find out the ocean survival rate. This also helps us be more in tune with the fishing environment for when we take charters out. The more time spent on the water noticing where bait and fish are holding up help us provide a great success rate for our guests! Looking Towards 2020 - 2021 We would like to remind everyone that we fish year round. Some of the most bountiful charters can happen in the early New Year, Jan - March. We have flexible options when booking fishing Oct - April. Think about purchasing a gift card for someone this year with an open ended date (based on availability). Deposits can be made for a general date then closer to your trip we can plan a day around the weather. We also offer a stress free Covid-19 booking assurance. If you book a trip for 2020-2021 rest assured if Covid restricts your travels we offer a full credit up to 1 week in advance. Peak Season 2021 As our business has been growing, we are now starting to see many more advance bookings on peak dates. Think of this as a friendly reminder to many of you who I have had the pleasure to fish with over the years and anticipate seeing again.

Chris and I got to go out for a charter of our own with some buddies today. We went over to the Fraser to target some sturgeon and had a great time! Mike caught one just below 8ft and my biggest was almost 7ft.

Today was one of those annoying days I saw coming all week....weather forcast all over the place, guests can't move a date, turns out a little worse and changed a little later than forecasted.
